Getting to Know You January 2021!

Question for January 26th:

Have you ever done something crazy/completely outside your comfort zone to impress someone you were attracted to?

I once lit bottle rockets while holding them.  It hurt, so I didn't do that again.

the rest of the evening went rather well.  so success?

I jumped off  cliff with a pretty girl in Hawaii.  She was a much better swimmer and had left by the time I got back to the beach.  I was so exhausted that surviving counted as a partial success.

If you have the misfortune to end up at my house right now, you can cook for yourself. And while you’re at it, clean up the kitchen and take out the trash.

Swears.

Does getting married count?

When I was 14 or so I volunteered at a zoo because a girl I liked worked there. First day, I was put on goat cleanup and a goat rammed my hand into the cheap fencing, tearing a nice chunk off. As I looked at the goat, the poop, my hand flesh dangling from the fence, I decided that I wasn't going to do stupid things to impress girls. Good lesson to learn early.

The next year we brought the first real drummer into our band, and he gave me the sage advice to never chase after girls, let them come to you. So yeah, that sealed it.

I drove a whole group of college girls to the mall shopping so I could get to know one of them better.  It worked too; we have been married for 29 years now.

Not quite. Something crazy? Absolutely. But not really to impress anyone.

Probably to do the exact reverse.

I can't think of anything specific, but I'm sure I have (a clear sign that I'm getting older, memory loss). Probably during high school or college, there was a great deal outside my comfort zone then. None of it worked, so why bother?

Not really, I mean a multicoloured wolf doesn't need to...

I had been single for a couple years and agreed to have lunch with a cute but very crazy woman. A coworker 'reminded' me that we were supposed to be going out for lunch together that day, and I should apologize to crazy lady.

That coworker and I have been together ever since, 16 years and counting!

I think that’s a solid NO.  I guess I’d have figured that if she (preferred pronoun for being attracted to) were to be impressed by something crazy or uncomfortable, I’d be unable to follow up by doing it again.  I impressed my wife by learning ballroom dance, but, by the time I’d been idly learning ice dance for some years, that was hardly outside my comfort zone. ::D:

Another solid NO here.

Yup.

And worse,  there was the high probability of an Epic Fail during the initial attempt.

I did four 7 day challenges. Seems to have done the trick.

I did one and I'm tempted to do a second, but hubby has been rather adamant that apparently I'm not all that enjoyable to be around during such challenges.  ...Yet he'll let me do even crazier things, like a one brush challenge, with an airbrush....

She'd just need to not mind waking up covered in glitter....

Question for January 27th:

If you had to use a fake name (first and last), what fake name would you go by?

More people know me by my online name than they do the name on my driver's license...

Edit: Does this mean by Pezler's logic my real name is the fake one?

I don't know. I have a German surname that everyone mispronounces already. If I become a writer, I'll let my publisher choose. My initials are J.N., so Jane Dough; obviously I'm a very successful writer.

One of my ancestral surnames is Silbernagel, which means "Silver Nail". I like to tell people that the lady I was named for was a werewolf huntress. I really was named after her.

The rules: as they were last month (in addition to all regular forum rules) except where I sneakily changed them:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question. †
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day, a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one... ††
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted sometime before 1 AM Reaper time (US Central).
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to Talespinner or Morihalda…
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.
      8. Pix always welcome.

The first question will need to be posted after a brief (10 minute) pause to foil the merging of posts.
The footnotes, because I can't resist doing †††footnotes:

      † I will aim for 0600 Reaper/Nottingham time.
††  If subs and backstops could wait until 11AM in Reaper/Denton's timezone to see if I remember.
      ††† …because I re-remembered how to do the dagger ( † ) symbol.
