Quite the horse.

I thought Legion was a skirmish level game.  This pic looks like full on warfare?

It's skirmish but not "run one team of 6-10 figures" skirmish.

I can't field all of that at once.  B1s and B2s are both core units, so in an 800 point standard game I could field up to 6 core units. In a 500 point game only 5 core units.

I just like to be prepared :poke:
I still need to pick up one more unit of B2s at some point.

The Droidekas are support units (2 per unit) and you can field up to three in a full game (2 in skirmish).

The BXs and STAPs will be special forces.  You can have up to 3 units of those in standard (2 in skirmish).
And the AAT is the only heavy they have so far.  1 is allowed in skirmish or 2 in a full game.

There are also commanders and operatives, Grevious is the only one I have put together so far, but Dooku, Maul and Cad Bane are also out.

Now if I ever play the Grand Army format, it is 1600 points, plays on a 4x6 board and allows up to 10 core, 5 special forces, 5 support and 4 heavies....

Not sure how Autocorrect turned “Force” into “Horse?!?”

Autocorrupt constantly evolves, always ready and waiting to strike when you least expect it...

Been a bit, a sinus infection has been sapping my energy.  A couple days into some antibiotics now, and managed to find some time to move some things and get some things ready to prime.

And get some paint on some guns.

It's a start.

Hey, just noticed I put the leader's electro binoculars on backwards.....seems appropriate for B1s.....  "The enemies are still far away.  I can barely see them. How are they hitting us? Roger Rog..zzzchsythg".......

Haven't been painting for a bit but have been doing some assembly and priming.

Been a bit stressed so took this week off to relax and recharge, so that means painting!

Didn't do too much but drybrushed both units here with Citadel's Dry Terminatus Stone, which goes pretty well with the Skeleton Horde contrast.

Then decided on markings, so I can tell the units apart (I can tell these since one is printed and one is official figs, but you know).

In the shows and movies there aren't any unit markings as such, but the commander bots have a yellow circle on their torso and a yellow head marking.  I did that for the first printed unit using some Pale Saffron.  Then just painted the right shoulder the same on all the minis for that unit.  I did the same for the first FFG unit, but using Adon Orange.  I then did a light drybrush over the markings to make them look worn.

I'm still considering putting a little damage on the orange unit (I won't bother with the printed stand-ins).

Tonight after D&D I decided to start on the guns.

Turns out I put too much of the black contrast paint in my well, so I just kept going....

That's a lot of guns.....

Was going to to hit up a unit or so with the main colour, before I got to trying to organize my study.

Got a bit carried away while listening to the build up for the SN9 test flight.....

So that's 6 units at least base coated, 2 of which are actual FFG units.

Hoping to test spraying one of the finished units in a bit as it continues to warm up.  If I can get them sealed I can finally get some figs based and finished.

Got the next 4 units drybrushed and with unit markings.

I'll try to get them sealed in  hour or two, before the temp drops.  I got the first two units sealed yesterday.

Just to remind me what colours I used for unit markings, for when I get to the specialists.

All the B1s got sealed yesterday.  So starting basing. Going for a simple Geonosis theme for the CIS.

Starting with a base coat of Ruddy Leather.

Next steps after this dries....and lunch......

And some basing, umm, stuff? ballast? applied.

I picked up both "Mars Earth" and "Mars Sand" from Geek Gamin Scenics.  I ended up mixing them together as most if the "earth" seemed to be the same as the sand anyway, other than the fairly large chunks of rock.  I was hoping for a bit more gravel-y type bits but at least my bag didn't really have that.  Ah well. By the second troop I'd decided it was easiest to pick out a rock with tweezers (this stuff turns your fingers a bit red) if I want it on the base and stick it in the glue first, then dunk, since dunking and trying to get a stone to stick didn't really work.

I'll let these dry completely and then do a little drybrushing on it and clean up the rims.

So this is my year in review.  It was a strange year, what with working from home since early March.  I initially thought that would mean I'd paint more, but after spending 8+ hours every day sitting 3 feet from my painting desk but working, it really didn't work out that way. Eventually I was able to get some stuff painted so things are working better now.
At the start of the year I decided I wanted to not just pick up some random Star Wars Legion stuff to paint, but to actually play the game.  Unfortunately everything shut down before I could watch a game at the LFGS.
After I got enough prepped at home, my very patient and understanding wife agreed to play some small games so I could sort out the rules.  It must be reasonably fun for her, we just played a game on Monday....
Eventually the store opened up for play again and I got in about a half dozen games before the latest wave hit and put a stop to that.  If all goes well we should be back to playing in a couple weeks.
      As far as painting:

That was my output for the year.  I count it as 52 figures (51 bases but the e-Web has two Snowtroopers on the base.....). Not bad at all for me, especially considering it took me two months to paint the first unit of Stormtroopers and I had a big slump during the hot part of the summer where my output was nil.
As you can probably tell, I play Imperials. And, because I'm using the premium bases and painting them, I can only field what I've painted.  So I've been pushing on painting Imperials.  The only rebel unit I've painted is the Rebel Veterans.  The LFGS rain a painting contest online during the shutdown and I figured painting yet more white and black wasn't going to impress....
      Here is the breakdown:
      1 box of Rebel Veterans
      2 units of Stromtroopers
      1 unit of Scout Troopers
      2 units of Snowtroopers
      1 e-WEB heavy blaster team
      2 units of Speederbikes
Darth Vader (the starter box edition)
      General Veers
and the Imperial Officer and FX-9 Medical Droid from the Imperial Specialists Personnel Expansion.
Looking forward to 2021 I still have a lot of Imperials left to paint. Luckily most are assembled, some are primed and a number of Stormtroopers already have a wash and drybrush done.
This is good because I got the Clone Wars starter for Christmas (awesome wife strikes again!) so I'll be starting to assemble Droids soon....

(Yes, the title is a throwback to a contest I ran years ago on here....no I'm not running another one, with today's shipping rates, ugh......)
This is where I'm going to work on 3D printed terrain pieces for Star Wars Legion, most of which currently are going to be spaceships.  Because why use generic terrain when you can be shooting Rebel Scum hiding behind X-wings and the like?
      Up first is this:

All the FDM bits are there, but most of the resin bits (guns, ramp, interior) are still in a bin waiting to have their supports removed and cured.
I figured I should get a thread started as maybe that will get me over that initial hurdle of actually starting.  This has all been printed for a week or two and just sitting there....plus I'm gonna need that airbrush booth for other things sooner or later....
I will, of course, be attempting to make this look somewhat like the original episode 5 version, not some retconned prequel sillyness.
Now to go listen to some Prism.

This morning I started on one of my Mandalorians.
Started with base coats on the grey and green and then a dark wash. Then picked out the leather items and washed them as well. Then a first coat on the cape and base. Oh, and base coated and washed the metal too.

Up next is Cad Bane. However, first some bonus Battle Droids. These guys painted up very quickly.
