Front two units are done, I think, except for a final sealing.  Bases just got a "wet brush" (a drybrush would have knocked off too much ballast) of Mustard Yellow and a bit of Polished Bone, and tidied up the rims with some more Ruddy Leather.

The other 4 units go their ballast and rocks and are drying.  Might get them finished up tonight so I can try to get them all sealed tomorrow before the temp drops.

So, ran into a slight problem with my first two units yesterday....

I gave them a quick spray of matte, and now it looks like they are out at dawn and the frost is still on the desert sands....

Guess I should have actually use the Matt Scenic Sealent I got from Geek Gaming Scenics which specifically says "You'll be able to secure your details with a reliable adhesive sealant. It will seal your product on the layout and it will dry to a clear finish, ensuring that your work is not ruined by unsightly adhesive marks."....:upside:

That kind of put me off painting yesterday, which really wasn't a bad thing as I had a bunch of work on my study to get done before I start back to work on Monday. I'll experiment to see if I can fix it on these guys and try a different technique for the next ones.

At least these guys are just proxy 3D prints, not my actual FFG guys, so they will get replaced eventually.  I've got two more units of those to figure out how to get these bases sealed before I move on to the real thing.

Back to trying to get these bases sorted.

The 2nd row got a coating the Matt Scenic Sealent last night, and some dry brushing this morning and the outer rim touched up.  I'll likely just brush on some matt sealer on the rim and call it finished.

The 1st, 4th and 5th rows got their Sealent this morning (after I saw the test from last night worked.

The 6th row is waiting to see if I can fix up the bases on the 3rd row, which both frosted.

The 3rd row has some Sealent applied last night but stayed frosted.  I put some brush on gloss on a couple to see if that would help.  They seem better but hard to tell as they are now shiny.  I'll put some brush on matt on later and see if it helps.

Meant to post this on Monday.....

All 6 units are essentially done, I just need to go over them and check if I hit any spots on the droids when drybrushing the bases, and if I did hit it with a bit of the drybrush colour for them.

The front 2 units are the ones I had to repaint the dirt to cover the frosting, so they are slightly darker, since I was trying to match paint to the colour the ballast is.  It looked good wet but dried a little darker.   As these are 3D printed figs they will get replaced for normal play eventually with the 2 units of sprues I have waiting for assembly anyway, so close enough.

Hopefully will get them all inspected tonight so I can call them finished and get back to the B2s.

Ok, calling these 6 units of B1s done!

Will put them into foam trays tomorrow so I get my work area back.  Will either do some assembly or paint some B2s next, depending on when I have time and how tired I am.

Guess I should bump my fig count for the year from 0 now.....

Well, haven't gotten much assembled or anything, but I did finish assembling 2 STAP riders (as far as I will until after painting), and I assembled a T-47 for my wife to try out in the game we played half of on Sunday.

The next two STAPs got snipped off the spures and then I got distracted.....

Well, my leg isn't letting me do too much at my painting desk (I'm having nerve pain down my leg and sitting leaned forward it starts to hurt after maybe 20 minutes, then I have to take a break. Hopefully a few more physio sessions will fix it up) but I did assemble 2 more STAP riders, and also put pins in the feet of the unit of Snowtroopers I got when a guy was getting rid of his collections.

He was going for an alternate paint scheme so primed them black.  I'll give them a new white prime from the airbrush.

The STAP riders are going to be a pain to get lined up with their handle bars after painting.  Maybe I should be attaching the handle bar to the droid first and then attach it to the "single trooper aerial platform" after.  Might try that for the last 2.....

I have today off so decided to do a little painting.  My leg is a little better so was mostly just a tingly numbness if I stat at the desk for too long.....physio this afternoon.....

Started on the first unit of B2s.

They'd been primed with AP Plate Mail spray. So just a coat of Nuln Oil, a drybrush of Plate Mail, then a more directional light drybrush of Shining Sliver.  Last (for now) I've gone in and washed Agrax Earthshade into the "abs" section and the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee joints.

Next session I'll hit the abs up with a slightly darker metal (I'll try GW's Leadbelcher, haven't used it before), some touch ups and the red dot/light/eye thingy on the left shoulder, and look at the weapons to see what folks are going with those.  Then they'll be ready for a sealing and basing. Basing will be the same as the B1s.

These ones will be the classic all silver ones.  The next 4 units (until I get box 6) will each get a different colour for accents, so I can tell the units apart.

More progress post physio.

Unit #1, on the left is pretty much done.  I'll have to look at the weather to so when we'll get a warm enough day to seal.

Unit #2 is starter, trying out the paint scheme on the commander (the rest won't have the red "head spot" marking),  So far I think it looks good.  The other 5 are still the base Plate Mail, so you can see the difference between that and how Unit #1 ended up.....

A decent session to get 2 layers of the red on unit#2.

A little messy today, my shoulder didn't really feel like doing the whole "stable" thing. The Plate Mail is pretty opaque so cleanup shouldn't be bad at least.

I do like how the red Contrast goes over metallic, leaving a shine (this is the happily named Flesh Tearers Red). If I decide to pick up Marvel Crisis Protocol I know what to use on Iron Man......

So this is my year in review.  It was a strange year, what with working from home since early March.  I initially thought that would mean I'd paint more, but after spending 8+ hours every day sitting 3 feet from my painting desk but working, it really didn't work out that way. Eventually I was able to get some stuff painted so things are working better now.
At the start of the year I decided I wanted to not just pick up some random Star Wars Legion stuff to paint, but to actually play the game.  Unfortunately everything shut down before I could watch a game at the LFGS.
After I got enough prepped at home, my very patient and understanding wife agreed to play some small games so I could sort out the rules.  It must be reasonably fun for her, we just played a game on Monday....
Eventually the store opened up for play again and I got in about a half dozen games before the latest wave hit and put a stop to that.  If all goes well we should be back to playing in a couple weeks.
      As far as painting:

That was my output for the year.  I count it as 52 figures (51 bases but the e-Web has two Snowtroopers on the base.....). Not bad at all for me, especially considering it took me two months to paint the first unit of Stormtroopers and I had a big slump during the hot part of the summer where my output was nil.
As you can probably tell, I play Imperials. And, because I'm using the premium bases and painting them, I can only field what I've painted.  So I've been pushing on painting Imperials.  The only rebel unit I've painted is the Rebel Veterans.  The LFGS rain a painting contest online during the shutdown and I figured painting yet more white and black wasn't going to impress....
      Here is the breakdown:
      1 box of Rebel Veterans
      2 units of Stromtroopers
      1 unit of Scout Troopers
      2 units of Snowtroopers
      1 e-WEB heavy blaster team
      2 units of Speederbikes
Darth Vader (the starter box edition)
      General Veers
and the Imperial Officer and FX-9 Medical Droid from the Imperial Specialists Personnel Expansion.
Looking forward to 2021 I still have a lot of Imperials left to paint. Luckily most are assembled, some are primed and a number of Stormtroopers already have a wash and drybrush done.
This is good because I got the Clone Wars starter for Christmas (awesome wife strikes again!) so I'll be starting to assemble Droids soon....

(Yes, the title is a throwback to a contest I ran years ago on here....no I'm not running another one, with today's shipping rates, ugh......)
This is where I'm going to work on 3D printed terrain pieces for Star Wars Legion, most of which currently are going to be spaceships.  Because why use generic terrain when you can be shooting Rebel Scum hiding behind X-wings and the like?
      Up first is this:

All the FDM bits are there, but most of the resin bits (guns, ramp, interior) are still in a bin waiting to have their supports removed and cured.
I figured I should get a thread started as maybe that will get me over that initial hurdle of actually starting.  This has all been printed for a week or two and just sitting there....plus I'm gonna need that airbrush booth for other things sooner or later....
I will, of course, be attempting to make this look somewhat like the original episode 5 version, not some retconned prequel sillyness.
Now to go listen to some Prism.

This morning I started on one of my Mandalorians.
Started with base coats on the grey and green and then a dark wash. Then picked out the leather items and washed them as well. Then a first coat on the cape and base. Oh, and base coated and washed the metal too.

Up next is Cad Bane. However, first some bonus Battle Droids. These guys painted up very quickly.

My next project is these guys. I have also cut up some old sprues to make these stacks of metal bars.
