I'm still looking for a Trio for February.  I know it's late in the month, but asking over on Discord has gotten me no replies so I'm checking here. Maybe some folks who haven't dipped their toes into the challenge pool would like to join in?

I asked over on the discord to clarify if a duo or trio is limited to only 2 or 3 people and apparently it is not. As long as you have the minimum number of people, and everyone is painting the same miniature, then you can have more than 2 or 3 people. With that in mind we're painting 77441, Ostarzha elf cleric as a trio. We could add you as a fourth and everyone would still get the trio points no problem. Here's the text of that discussion from one of the moderators over there clarifying how it would work:

It can get confusing with more people painting and submitting duos/trios than expected. We are letting additional people paint in the groups (example 3 painting a Duo, or 4 painting a Trio) and everyone can get credit for that category, because we don't want to tell people "No, you can't paint something" or "Sorry, no points for that category for you this month" However, there are some suggestions to that point: 1) Please try to even the groups out when possible / plan earlier in the month. Things come up, and we realize you may be unable to find or balance out a duo/trio early on... So if you're short on time, it's okay to add someone in to your group and make it a little larger and everyone can get points for that month. 2) Clearly state when submitting the images who is getting credit for what, or if they already got credit, etc...
Like if a group member already painted a trio, but was added to your existing group of 2, so they could get a Duo credit as well... Post the three images and let us know it is for Duos for all three of you.

So if you're interested in painting that figure and can get it done by Saturday and your picture to ManvsMini, who's putting our pics together, then you could get your trio points.

So I decided to try out the Reaper Challenge League (RPL) for the time being and thought I'd go ahead and put together a WIP thread to highlight what I'm working on, keep the motivation going for myse

Here's some terribly lit pics of this months work on the RCL, featuring my efforts in teaming up with fellow forumites. The Avatar of Resilience(as a chubby unicorn!) is teamed up with @Humansquish, S

Here's my Scottish Dragonman on his way to the fitba' (as we call it in these parts). Apparently my camera hates me today :(

When I started the challenge league, my one condition was that it wasn't going to be an excuse to buy more minis. I already have a massive backlog and unless it's a new release then it's off limits. Well, I HAD to buy a new copy of that elf cleric because my existing one didn't have much of a face and then I looked at the seasonal minis that everyone was putting up online. There was so many Valentine's day and Lunar New Year entries, so I ended up looking at my calendar and guess what I found in March?

St Patrick's Day! Picked this up on the Reaper UK site- I just spent 6 hours on this pair of fine fellows and I regret nothing! ::D:

He needs eyes, more work on pretty much everything and I'm trying to figure out how to do a flora rainbow but I absolutely adore this 'lil dude and his buddy  I never would have even looked for him if I hadn't been doing these league shenanigans!

That was my thought.  I have tons of figures and I'm going to paint anyway.  If it fits into RCL, then great.  Only now I am searching through bins trying to fit into as many categories as possible,  and I may just stop at the FLGS while I'm out today.

The leprechaun looks great, nice shading on the owl.  I have the figure and was thinking of painting it too, if I can find it.

Excellent! That's the first mini my wife bought me and the first one I tried to do any kind of eyes on. It's so great. Can't wait to see your finished product.

I'm not sure this mini is worth a Show Off post, but I'm really happy with how she turned out. I tried to make her scarves look like Ursula's pet eels, Flotsam and Jetsam, but it was not entirely successful. I would have spent longer on her, but its a short month and @ManvsMini needs some usable pics to work his photomanipulation wizardry on!

That's totally worthy of a Show Off, especially if you are happy with her! She's awesome. If I had chosen Ursula for that mini, I would never have thought to try to make her scarves as the eels. That's genius creativity.

Thank you! You've convinced me do a combi-post of "What I did for the League this month" in the show off thread ::D:

The scarves were actually a happy accident- I was considering trying to make some when I realized that the scarves were kinda the right shape, so why not? They'd definitely look better that whatever misshapen horrors I could make, lol

Thanks @ManvsMini, that looks fantastic! I love how you colour coded the text too!

I had a moment of optimism and started the three colour challenge, I'm hoping that he'll be done by tomorrow. This is way out of my comfort zone as I usually avoid mixing my own colours. Housemate has already dubbed him "Mardi Gras Fish" ::D:

  • 2 weeks later...

She looks great, @Thoramel! Chaos personified, which is pretty accurate for a goblin!

Here's my WIP shot of most of my entries for this month (I forgot to include the occultist and the kitteh paladin). The owlbear was the result of seeing an barn owl on the way home from work and the zombie dragon will eventually be included in a diorama. The fox was dug out of the cupboard of shame after having way too much paint left over from painting the highland cow minotaur.

Thanks @Sharkbelly! Also, a big thanks to @Reaper_Jon, who was kind enough to feature both @Thoramel, @ManvsMini and my mini group shot on last weeks Reaperland show, along with my WIP pic. My work seemingly conspires to keep me from watching the show whenever my minis are featured!

Submissions this month need to be in for the 28th, so here's my motley crew. As usual, I could have done with more time, but I'd still be working on that cat paladin this time next year if I was left to my own devices

First up is my entry in the category of 'Goblin Madness' with @ManvsMini and @Thoramel. We all took 89004 Goblin Warchanter and did our own unique takes on her. Here's my Goblin Bagpiper ::D:

Next up is my entry with @Pochi and @Evilhalfling, we all painted 77107, Svetlana, Frost Giant Princess.

Here's my entry with @Humansquish, we both painted 77364, Angel of Shadows

Here's my other trio entry with @Inarah and @[email protected], 89052 Mavaro the Occultist

Last(but definitely not least) of the joint efforts is 03928, Steelclaw. he is part of the quarterly entry with @ManvsMini, @Thoramel, @Maledrakh, @Inarah and @[email protected]. Steelclaw is painted to resemble Mr Meeps, my obsessively clean(even for a cat!) kitteh who steadfastly defended my againt spiders, brainweasels and a particularly nasty ex. This is my first attempt at sky/earth non metallic metal and I'm afraid he stole quite a bit of painting time from the other minis!

I'm running out of time on my work break, so heres the rest of this months entries. Thanks for looking everybody and keep on painting!
