I have not been painting this weeks minis despite the fact I am the one who picked them.  Instead I have been painting up an Impact Miniatures Qilin pony figure for my friend Mary’s birthday.

She wanted it to match this photo.  6E117377-C0C0-42BD-98CD-E76FC08A9CA2.thumb.jpeg.6ad85f659c0655c6b3b90102e29497cc.jpeg

this is where I am currently at.

As a project this is really pushing my skill set.  The highlights are fluorescent paints and inks which are very particular.  I used 3 drops of glaze medium and a drop of flow improver for every drop of the fluorescent paint.
This is also so much lighter than my usual style which is definitely darker and tends toward earth tones.

once I get the eyes painted on this pony I am going to tackle the orc shaman guy.

@Hibouthose colors are awesome! You're blending them together nicely, even if it's pushing your skill.  Better to push ahead than stay static.  Keep going!

As for me. This guy is taking me forever!

Dude that main eye on the beholder is sick! @R2ED you're really knocking these out.

I've been working on some orcs that are not the orc dude for this club, but my paint slinging has been at a minimum. I'm going from managing a team of 3 to a team of 20 and work has taken over too much of my life. Hopefully it'll settle down over the next couple weeks, and I can paint more towards the end of this year.

@HibouI'd be lying if i was saying I'm not staying up late every night chasing painting time.  I hit a benchmark I've been hoping to get to.  Now that I'm layering with good results and paint mixes are making more sense, it's all coming together.

All i want to do is keep testing new things.  It's hard because I'm on a roll right now but don't have enough time.  When i have a lot of time i usually don't have this level of inspiration.

What can you do, right?

As for your work, @billeecatsthat's great! Congrats growing in your role.  I have managed large teams and it's a challenge.  It's very very very hard to find your rhythm, but once you get it, it's as rewarding as parenting.  Good luck and kick as$!  Just remember to not let your work overwhelm you - find a way to decompress.  That means paint when you can.

@Ambrousisgross! And i love it.  The eyes look like you didn't have to do too much, but they have a menacing and realistic arachnid look.  Shivers.  The webs are a fun touch.

I didn't get one in the first bones 5, but i did add one to the 5.5.  Can't wait to get my hands (or a flamethrower) on that model.
