I love these miniatures from Broken Anvil Miniatures.  I also was testing the colors set from Scale 75.  Used only greens (except on the skulls) and some white and black.

Also, the red brown primer from badger is great for under red.

Okay, I'm having a hard time with this one.  I feel like he's a reaper.  But I was thinking with his socks and outfit he looks like a scarecrow jester.  I thought orange, black, purple, blue would work.  Meh... not so much. 

 

Here's version one: 

I was done and then really had a difficult time with it being finished. 

 

 

Version 2:

I went back and blacked out much of the color. Any ideas on which is better? What am I missing here?

If you're going for complimentary harmony with orange and purple then your third color should be green.  Try shading or highlighting with green.

@InarahI totally chickened out.  I just painted the rim and called it done. I absolutely agree that I should have done green to complement it.  Wah wah. Next time. 

 

My daughter saw this in the pile of shame and wanted me to paint it.
