14296 Winged Serpent

Recommended Posts

The Mayan color scheme works well on this figure, great job. Regarding the shelf of shame, I have a pre-slotta GW elf I need to strip, what process did you use for yours? I've never stripped a figure before.

My go-to-method is to soak the mini in ethanol for a few days, followed by scrubbing with a toothbrush, more alcohol (on the brush, not for me...) and a lot of curses. ::D:

It works for the reaper figures made out of pewter that have just recently been painted. I have no experience with plastic minis, plastic bases or even different pewter alloys, so be very careful.

Aww.. He's so cute!  I love the wings and the attention paid to the head.  It sort of looks like he's waiting for dinner...

Thank you! His pose somewhat reminded me of a heron, with the intense stare and the lowered head. While I was painting him I thought about how he was hunting the fish in the water below him - or, at least, checking them out.

I learned from the maya paintings I used for inspiration that the grown up serpents eat humans. But maybe the young ones start with fish.::D:

Nice color choice, they all work beautifully together. I also love the base, the waves "foam" and the transition between blues is perfect.

I like it!

Congrats on depopulating your shelf of shame a bit.

Little critters like this are perfect opportunities to try new color schemes and basing techniques.

Thanks for the fun facts.  Amazing to think how our languages affect the ways in which we perceive the world.

Next mini off my shelf of shame: The little mummy from the warlord familiars pack III.

Only when I painted the eyes of the scarabeus I realised that the sculpt is one eyed. And then I was too lazy to add the other one. Oh, well...

Just a quick paint up, enjoy!

      C&c welcome!

Hello everyone, I completed this model last night. 14124 Kevis the Overlords Mage was sculpted by Chaz Elliott. This guy will be an evil evoker NPC in a campaign I'll be running.

      So, a few questions:

      Mercenaries.
There was a post about how if we take so many mercenaries we will lose our faction benifits? is that true? if so, where do I find the limits and who can go in what force? Going to a shop with plentiful reaper next wed and want to have a shopping list in hand for what I can use in my necropolis and crusader forces.

      SO, we can have:
      0/1 warlord
1/3 captains(assuming no duplicates with UNQ?)
      ?/? sgts?

So after that, elites as many as fill the slots, soldiers, I am assuming we can mix and match as we darn well please?

I'll have more questions, right now I am painting up a storm, just did 8 battle nuns, 4 characters last night. so today I start basing my other solidiers and elites.

Hello everyone, here are pictures of 14098, Khufu the Nefsokar Warlord sculpted by Bob Ridolfi.
This Warlord model is one of my all time favorite miniature, the scorpions on the axe, headpiece and necklace are fabulous.

The storyline behind this mini is also fantastic.
