I found this little jeep at the grocery store. Since it was roughly the right size I chopped up a bones kobold to drive it. And piled some food, a crystal and a duck in the back.

It was not bad, but I didn't really like the sword, since my goal was joyride mayhem as opposed to fighting. So I gave it a mug instead.

I also gave him a little lizard pal hanging on the outside.

So that's cool, but I want to make it sillier still before I paint it.

Currently thinking of sticking a bag of golf clubs and maybe some other kobold loot on the jeep.

Amazing!  I love that he's driving a toy Jeep (KOBOLD-SIZED!) -- also really nice job with the customization to make all the "kobold loot" -- especially the golf club & bag!  (Okay, the DUCK is awesome, too.)

thanks, the duck was an extra from the 2nd mantic terrain crate kickstarter, as were the bottles. the golf bag is a drilled out piece of sprue with belt pouches glued on and a golf club shoved in the end. the drum, keg and mug came from some old dwarf plastic kit, the hat I think was the bones space sheriff, and the little lizard is from an infinity mini

Ok, I think it could use a little grass on the base, but it is otherwise done. And I can't find where I put the grass.

this is really cool.  The colors and humor remind me of Borderlands.  As far as the grass goes, if you put it in little patches, you could use tufts on the raised ground, and glue some static grass flattened out under the path of the tires.

that would work, I just need to find where in the apartment I left the static grass

Started converting my bones v robot kobolds. The idea was to arm them with scifi weapons to use them as a little starship boarding party.

The plan is to do a total of 9 when ever they hit retail, all with different weapons.

So far axe guy has a plasma gun and a samurai banner.
      Then there's rocket launcher kobold
Knife kobold has a flame thrower.

I recently finished a group of Reaper Bones miniatures. As they are so small they were a little hard to paint at some points. I'm fairly new painting miniatures so I was looking for some feedback and potentially some tips on how to improve in the future. All comments, advice, and constructive criticism is welcome.

My own main criticism with them is the highlights as I'm not 100% where/how to paint proper highlights to make a natural look without a ton of brush strokes.

So, before I go any further, I am an absolute rookie in the mini painting world. So, uh, prepare for the worst.

Anyways, here's a trio of Kobold leaders. Yeah, I know there's six of them, but one got lost and the other two need a good bit more work, so it's just these three for now.

As I said, I'm completely new to this hobby, so any friendly critiques are welcome!

      KNOWN FAULTS:
I missed a couple spots on the first kobold leader's face.
And a few other random spots elsewhere on all three.
All of their bases look nasty...
I didn't do their eyes, as I want to get a bit more familiar with this before I try doing something like that.

The term "Kobold" is originally German for "goblin", "gnome" or "faery", the scary and dangerous beings from outside the campfire's light in preindustrial times.

In D&D the name has been used on 1st level mooks who used to be doglike goblinoids but these days are dragonkin, i.e. small reptiliads.

These newer kobolds from Reaper are very much more dragon- or reptile-like than earlier versions that might have been doglike...

There are 12 of them in the Bones 4 core set. 6 mooks and 6 leaders.

      #103-108: Kobold Leaders

These are the slightly more powerful kobolds. Some of them might even be 2nd level!
      Numbered left to right, #103-#108.

Also note the many mammary glands on #105. These are supposed to be reptilian?

      #75-#80: The Kobold Mooks

      Numbered left to right, #75-#80.

Not by best work by far. I did four different colour combinations, three of each.

After these there are only 3 models left in the core set to go!

12 1st level mooks vs 1 12th level barbarian berserker. Who will win? Ready! Steady! Fight!

Really enjoyed painting these up, and looking forward to getting the Bones Kickstarter with 12 more unique sculpts.

Painted these as a batch of 12 in about 2.5 hours by starting with an all over coat of Vallejo German Red Brown primer, then a wash with Green stuff World Swamp Brown ink. Then just a case of picking out the details, and highlighting the skin with Vallejo Game Colour Tan.  I didn't finish off with a wash, as I normally would, because the minis were so small and had a Brown palette. I thought I would just blur the details if I washed them..

The bases are mdf disks (20mm) with Green stuff World roller used to add a texture. That was just painted in Scale 75 Grey Brown and shaded with Army Painter Strong Tone.
