Hello there!

Now it's no secret that I'm a fan of Games Workshop minis, there's two problems with this though, I can't paint armies (I've tried, I lose interest after the first few minis) so I miss out on the interesting units, and just buying heroes gets rather expensive!

Then I discovered their Underworlds game, getting little bite-sized versions of the various factions (often with fancy bases!), and now I'm obsessed.

This year I want to try and put a dent in this particular pile of plastic (or, at least cancel out the new ones I'm getting), and thought a project thread might help.

I've made a spreadsheet, ran a number generator and picked the first ten candidates.

 hJKWu9p.jpg

Laserian - An evil Knight and Balmonoth - Insidous Rat-man.

The Champion - Wandering Undead Warrior (He's not actually an Underworlds mini, he's one of only two Games Workshop resin minis I brought that were cast well enough to keep, but he fits in the skeleton faction.) and One-Eyed Thabron - Orc Mercenary.

Awil-sin - Fey Elf and Jafari - Cultist.

nDjUjHt.jpg

Yrkill - Sky Dwarf Adventurer and Fahime - Evil Elven Assassin.

Padean - Barbarian of the Western Plains and Elodie of the Blade - Elven Peacekeeper.

Started working on Elodie:-

Being an Elf I used Elf Fleshtone > Flesh Wash > Elf Fleshtone > Elf Fleshtone/Light Flesh, added a drop of Scarlett Red to the highlight mix for her lips, and gave her a pretty decent (IMO) pair of eyes.

Next is her wacky hair.

Hopefully I stick with it, really need to get some of these done.

How did you do the base on the rat-man? I love dungeon tile bases and that is significantly better than what I'm using.

I see what you like about these minis.

The Evil Elven Assassin looks amazing

Unfortunately that's not something I did, these guys all come with their own bases.

Progress:-

Did the hair (Iraqi Sand/Yellow Ochre > Sepia Wash > Iraqi Sand/Yellow Ochre > Iraqi Sand/Yellow Ochre/Bonewhite), and made a start on her headband and hair-tube with Brassy Brass.

Need to tidy up the brass and attempt some sapphires, then it's on to her armour.

Double update day woot!

Tidied up the Brass on her headband and hair-tube and did sapphires on both in Stormy Blue, I still don't really "get" gems but they look okay.

Then I did her armour and sword blade (Gunmetal Blue/Pure Black > Oily Steel > Black Wash > Oily Steel > Chrome), then the armour decoration and sword pommel in more Brassy Brass.

Next will be her trousers and top.

Did her trousers (Steel Grey) and top (Ghost Grey/Off-white).

Didn't take too long, so I also basecoated her leg/arm warmers (Red Leather), boots and straps (Leather Brown) and scale-mail (Bronze) and gave it all a Brown Wash. Wanna try to finish these bits today and start on her robes.

Thanks guys!

Been fighting with her robes.

Basecoated them in Turquoise/Off-white, added a bit more Off-white for the highlights, shaded with Turquoise mixed with two brush-tipfuls of Pure Black, and then glazed with some thinned Turquoise to smooth it all out.

I'm not that happy with them, I struggle when there's no really exaggerated folds, but they're not getting any better so I'm moving on to her back banner.

I really like your approach to painting.  What do you do undercoating?  Looks like white primer with a stain?

Thanks! Yeah, it's just white primer with brown wash, it helps me pick out the details (plus it makes them look nice on the shelf, while they wait to be painted).

Had a good paint last night.

Did the banner pole in Iraqi Sand with Brassy Brass decorations.

Had another stab at a sapphire, as this one was larger I gave it another step (Stormy Blue > Stormy Blue/Magic Blue > Stormy Blue/Magic Blue/Off-white), also used the final highlight to paint the cloth wrapped around the bottom of the pole.

Then her blanket roll in Leather Brown/Bonewhite with Leather Brown straps.

Then I did the flag:- background (Sky Blue), tower (Stone Grey/Ghost Grey), windows and trim (Ochre Yellow) and picked out the outlines carefully with Black Wash.

There's also a Blood Red health potion bottle on there that you can't quite see.

Just got the base to go.

Was hoping to get her base done today, but it was not to be.

While painting the rim of another model I attempted to do this one, but the paint just wouldn't stick to the bare plastic, so I hit it with some black primer and called it a day.

At least I did manage to get the rocks done (Stone Grey > Ghost Grey drybrush > Bonewhite drybrush > Black Wash).

Did the little tree trunk (Red Leather/Parasite Brown), the leaves (Sick Green), the wheaty bits (Ochre Yellow) and grass (Medium Olive), drybrushed it all Ochre Yellow (added some Off-white to the mix when drybrushing the wheaty bits), hit it with some Brown Wash and we're done:-

Presenting Elodie of the Blade, a recently qualified Blademistress, for her first assignment she has been placed in a small peacekeeping unit, operating out of Veilmouth, to gain some real world experience.

Next up, Balmonoth:-

EsgPNtV.jpg

I've basecoated his skin (Dwarf Skin/Light Flesh), the hairy bits of his arms (Skin basecoat plus Red Leather) and his nose/tail (Old Rose) and splooshed on some Flesh Wash.

Finished of the skin with a highlight of Dwarf Skin/Light Flesh and a second one with extra Light Flesh.

The hairy arm bits got some Red Leather and Red Leather/Ochre Yellow.

His tail and nose got another coat of Old Rose and Old Rose/Light Flesh.

He got a Bloody Red eye (I think this could do with a wash to bring it out a bit better), I also mixed some Bloody Red into the final skin highlights to paint some spots he's got.

He also got some Bonewhite teeth and claws.

Next will be the bit of skin I missed on his neck () and his hood.

      Ok.
Prepping for the next Bones I WIP.
      The Eyes Have It!
I have this in metal too, so I’m planning to do both together.  You can see I did some surgery on the metal one.  Lots of hole drilling after cleaning mold lines.

Hi! Thats my first time at these forum.

First i want to apologize for my bad english.

And now... Here they are! The goblin bombs from Mad Dragon, three miniatures i found in a friend's garage long time ago.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I did when painting them.

Awhile back I was inspired by a gamer on the internet who had converted some Goblins into Gnomes. So I decided to try something similar but with my own style. Unsurprisingly, after I did this I found several other folks online had had similar ideas as well. Including JFA of Hagglethorn Hollow fame.

A bit of greenstuff and a change in the usual colors… presto! Gnomes instead of Goblins.

In hindsight if I was doing this again I think I would use different arms, weapons and shields on the two melee models but otherwise I am pleased with how they came out. Of course they are rather big Gnomes.

The next Gnomes I convert will be from Wargames Atlantic Halfling Militia….

Presenting Brutogg Corpse-Eater, my first finished adventurer from the game Cursed City by Games Workshop.

Had a lot of fun painting this guy, I experimented by giving him grey-hued skin to represent his unhealthy eating habits (he eats zombies) and it worked better than I thought it would.
Annoyingly though, I had to leave the bits under his coat unpainted (just couldn't get a brush up there), nobody will notice unless they turn him upside down, but it still bothers me that he's technically "Unfinished".

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
