I wonder if this will be a new method for digital fundraisers. I'm in but I wonder if people will like using this as opposed to KS or Indiegogo.

I backed, mostly because I backed the first one on KS.

But like I mentioned in another thread, I wouldn't back a company I didn't know well like this.

The big difference is paying up front, I would probably wait till the goal was met and then back just to make sure.

With KS one could cancel his/her pledge if a red flag would pop up or if something happened in your financial situation.

So, this is not what I would prefer.

All in all, this one is a great one.

I got a discount because I backed nr. 1 and getting a few exclusive files as well.

It's great value.

It's pretty much just a direct purchase at this point. Files to be delivered in 30 days.

Ditto. I pretty much did the same thing and not sure I like this approach.

Yup. I learned about the Fearsome Creatures Kickstarter after it was done and was able to back on MMF at the same KS price and was able to down load it immediately which makes backing before it is available not very helpful. I probably wouldn't have backed this on except for the early bird and discount fir backing the first one.

And I also miss the community aspect of KS.

With this typ of crowdfunding it's just a sale.

There is a comment section, though, as well as an update section that is currently unused.

Considering that a majority of STL KS are already using MMF for fulfilment, this is just the next step. Compared to Kickstarter + Backerkit + some hosting service this is an all-in-one service. Another advantage compared to KS is that there is no need for a credit card. On the other hand, you pay upfront and can't back out, so it's mostly for safe KS, but most STL KS fall into that category anyway.

They'll probably go after Patreon next, which I appreciate, especially if I no longer have to pay 19% VAT.

(MOD) I removed the link because MMF is not an approved Crowdfunding site.. yet  I'm working on expanding the site options, but I worry that MMF is too close to a commerce/pre-order link more than a crowdfunding link.. I'll leave the topic open for discussion though

Sorry, wasn't aware of that.

Maybe next time we should just say...crowdfunding on MMF for Company X?

Many Patreons offer their minis on MMF.

For Patreons the monthly theme pops up in their library to download then.

So I doubt that MMF is going to take over and eliminating VAT.

Yeah, I don't see Patreon going away anytime soon.  For a lot of creators that is a great source of ongoing monthly income and it's only growing as 3d printing becomes more and more popular.

Sadly, I'm not backing this project simply because I got so much variety from the first one and this one just isn't grabbing me.

I have mixed emotions about that.  When The community is good its great!  Then it's not it can turn vicious and toxic almost overnight.  At least this stays neutral.

On the flip side there really isn't much incentive not to wait until it's done and then cherry pick what I really want

I'm happy to back in this case, since I liked nr. 1 and I can use small terrain.

It does feel more like a sale than a kickstarter to me.

Not much anticipation it just feels different.

Loke BattleMats is running a campaign for their third "Set of 2 spiral-bound Battle Map Books for RPG", after Dungeons and Town and Taverns.
Loke has finished shipping their previous KS, and has fulfilled all six of their previous KS. The Wilderness Battle Map Books follow the same format as their previous two.
Loke BattleMats will also have digital maps for VTT at a low price, including freebies.
Previous SG's included free vinyl cling sets (reusable stickers) and Little Book (supplementary maps).

I have a review of their Town and Taverns Battle Map Books on RPG.net, as well as some other of their maps, Dungeon Little Book, and vinyl clings.

      Tor Skullcrusher,
      dwarven tattooed monk
A Thrym Project  :: A Custom Miniature developed on Hero Forge and 3D printed by a friend.

Started working on character of mine who is a Dwarven Tattooed Monk.  As I mentioned, I created him using Hero Forge, downloaded the .STL, and had him printed elsewhere.

I enjoy using the interface on Hero Forge so far.  I have designed and purchased 3 STLs and 2 minis.

Once I received the print, I made a manual adjustment to his skull.  An ironic happenstance, given the character's name.

Tor, being a dwarf and confident in his skills against ogres was going toe-to-toe with a rather large ogre with a great club.  This is not something unusual so far.  The party had been exploring an ogre controlled encampment searching for an item and information for a tribe of centaurs nearby.  Unfortunately, Tor suffered a critical hit from the Ogre Champion's club and took a lot of damage when he was already near unconsciousness.  He effectively had his namesake applied to his own noggin.

So I removed a large segment of his skull by the patch to approximate the results of his disfigurement once the party ... eventually ... managed to raise him from the dead.  His demeanor and appearance was never pleasing to begin with and now it's even worse.

I painted on a primer coat first so I could see where I was removing plastic better.  The majority of the work was done with a rounded mini-file as well as a small gouge chisel.  I cleaned up the space with a small sanding twig.

For a color scheme, his pallid skin is Reaper's Fair Skin.  The coat is Army Painter's D&D Vampire Garments with Army Painter D&D Mouldy Wash.  I put the wash over his skin and his hand wraps as well.  The coat's trim is just the Vampire Garments again.

For the tans I used Reaper's Desert Sand, Desert Stone, Desert Tan, and Woodland Brown; or some combination thereof.  The eye patch, the lining of the coat and the belt are Army Painter's D&D Wraith Black as well as the tattoos on his right and left forearms and the side of his head.

His boots started out as Reaper's Coal Black but I need to reshake the bottle before going back to it.

Yes, I know the pics and the paint wash are a little dark, but the next set of pics will be better lit.  I am planning on layering his highlights up to brighter points.

      More work to come soon.

      Stay Tuned and Safe.  Enjoy.

      I don't need another $100+ dungeoncrawl, but a $40+ one? Hmm... maybe.

The Tiny Epic gameline has a strong following on BGG. I haven't played too many of their games, so do your research. The few games I've played seemed to balance out theme, Euro rules, and streamlined play.

As far as I can tell, only the Potions expansion will not be available retail, so I might wait until then for sale. Too many games in the queue as it is.
