Rignes
You must have gotten lucky, shill shows as out of stock for me. I have an order in on Amazon. Should be here in a month or two. With the feast or famine availability of Dullcote I'll probably try to keep well stocked just so I don't run out. It' snot like it goes bad. At least we know they are not canceling it. Pochi
I bought some Vallejo Matte spray and some Dullcote brush on and tried them both out on some resin and some Bones. I found I needed to do 2 coats with both to hit missed spots (that's on me not the product) but they both worked very well and they both took away all of the shine of the gloss coat I was putting them over. The Vallejo spray is a big can too. Neither made anything sticky on the resin or the Bones. I was freaking out because I am working on some Tabletop World stuff and couldn't imagine having to seal it all with a brush on until whenever Dullcote restocks so I am glad the Vallejo spray turned out nice. So, your mileage may vary but I am happy with both of these. I guess we'll see how things go and if they work out well, I may not switch back to Dullcote when it does restock. I mean, I easily get 3X the amount in the Vallejo can for just a little bit more $$. If something tragic happens and one of them melts a mini or makes it tacky, I'll update but so far, so good. Have sprayed a handful of things and brushed on some smaller stuff. Dan S
I've had success with the Army Painters 'Anti-Shine' Matt Varnish (it comes in both spray cans and bottles) its a little pricey compared to some other brands (at least where I live), but it gives nice results. 4
Rignes
I just tried Krylon Matte Finish 1311and I have to say it's really pretty good IMO. It's not as matte as Dullcote but its pretty close. WAY better than any of the Rustoleum things I've tried.
Pochi
An update on the Vallejo Matt Spray. I sprayed some minis today and it left little...I don't really know how to describe it...little fleck marks all over them. Now, it did rain for a few days but it hasn't rained for the past couple. It was a little overcast outside today. Maybe it was too humid. I am 98% sure I shook the can enough. Good news is, I used the brush on Dullcote and it fixed it right up. I'll still try the Vallejo again on a sunny, dry day after shaking the can for forever! lol
Cygnwulf
I bought a bottle of matte liquatex acrylic varnish, I thin it just a tiny bit with distilled water and shoot it through my airbrush, comes out nicely matte (not quite flat, but more than what I'd call a satin) gonna try some of the golden polymer varnish when this runs out but so far 2 years in I'm only half way through the bottle.
Rignes
Based on what Rustoleum told me Testors Dullcote isn't going anywhere, but it's always nice to have a plan B just in case it does.
The Steve
I like that matte too. sometimes it doesn't work though. I find dullcoat to be more consistent though.

I use this brush on as my final coat, but if stuff is still too shiny I go for a coat of matte medium instead of more varnish. Best shine killer I've encountered so far. Also no issues with big buildings, just use a big brush. Edited March 28, 2021 by lexomatic
haldir
I've been using Vallejo matte varnish(white label with a little blue in it) in the bottles that are the same size as craft paints lately for some model parts that need it & it's becoming a favorite for me & I'm not one for brusing clear coats on.
