Ghost Rider
I was wondering where does everyone put their terrain? I have used boxes and bags and everything else. I'm currently using a rubbermaid type container for all of my hills and gaming mats, but I want to start building the buildings like the ones Frosch did (btw Frosch, you did an excellent job on them) and I would like to store them without damaging them. any ideas? Ghost Rider
I have no idea what happened with the title.
Gobbo
I just stack them all in a container like the one you use, or on a shelf. I have 3 shelves in my basement that are just for terrain. you can get the build yourself ones for pertty cheap at Target or Wal-mart. Ghost Rider
unfortunately shelves are a little hard to transport. and I can't really put any up (renting sux)
Gobbo
I was talking about book case style shelves, but your right about transport. I find I can stand all the same size buildings at the bottom of a big rubermaid container and put hills and stuff on top. they really do fit there well. sparky
Ghost Rider - I know where you are coming from, I have to transport mine all the time. Yes, I use Rubbermaid binds, the clear ones with the locking tops. If you select your boxes correctly you can purchase a smaller shoebox size for your trees and buildings. I have two large boxes each with different style hills. In the box I stack on the hills my terrain felt, and then on top of that my rubbermaid shoebox of trees in one box and building in the other. I also have a Plano Box to hold my Plano trays and then use a dolly for running the stack in and out of the conventions. the dolly and boxes store nicely under the game table during events. :D
lstormhammer
Something else you can use: Pizza boxes (unused for pizza, of course) they're about 2 inches thick, and plenty of space, as well. You can go to the pizza joint (I reccomend sunday afternoon, when it's quiet) and ask them for some. They might charge a couple of bucks, but those boxes are suprisingly sturdy. --lstormhammer
smokingwreckage
Some types of fresh produce get packed in big styrofoam boxes with close-fitting lids. sturdy if you don't kick them hard. very very light.
Leech
We get cardboard boxes with open tops. I've got 2 full of terrain and my club has around 20 of them. They're also sturdy as #### and stack really nicely. Stormhammer, I find that pizza boxes are too flimsy and also we don't get them 2" thick!!! I wish we did, cos then the pizzas would be thick too :o)
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted December 9, 2002 Moderator Share Posted December 9, 2002 I've got a big Baxter Dialysis-fluid box for my foam stuff, and I keep my buildings in a printer-paper box.
sparky
Just think, all these portable containers, it won't be long that you will have to make a dozen trips or find a way to use a cart or dolly. I'm at the dolly stag now and looking towards the flatbed cart!
Leech
Yeah, I'm at the "two armloads" point right now, just with terrain. Guess one of those trollies would make things a lot easier, save where stairs are concerned :o)
Ghost Rider
I've been to the point of just going to the loading dock to drop the stuff off. thanx everyone for the replies, the pizza boxes are a good idea, but I don't really have terrain that small. I think the rubbermaid type containers are the best route for now (beside if you don't mind red and green they're on sale now for xmas)
Leech
Ghost, you can never go wrong with red... in fact if it ain't red make it bleed!! Oops, slipped into Bad Blood fervor then. Sorry all :o)
