Starfinder: Attack of the Swarm pbp

Should do a Mythweavers sheet to keep it all sorted for you, your skills are a little ambiguous to read through, not knowing how many ranks, stat mod, operative edge value, etc, but as far as I can tell, you've shorted yourself a skill rank.  You get 8 SR's per level, plus a free SR in Culture & Sense Motive from your Detective Specialization, AND, an additional SR per level from Human, since you can't have more SR's in a given skill than your current level, you should have 11 skills listed.

Your Tactical Baton should be +3 to hit, it is an Operative Weapon, so you can use Dex to attack with it.  Now, a final thing to remember in Starfinder there is no dominant hand, nor any dual weilding rules, as such given the opportunity *always* have your pistol & baton drawn, that way you threaten squares around you and can take AoO's with the Baton, even though you have a ranged Weapon equipped.  Also means we can potentially provide flanking for our Solarian, and further up their accuracy, especially when we get Debilitating Trick at 4th and can impose Flat Footed on a target for everyone.

Also, love the picture.  Bad broccoli.

story to come later... Still need  a little time to flesh out some details.  Basically Ratticus is an Icon Engineer (aka acquisition specialist and know it all support) He spends his time fixing things that are broke for cash, breaking things that arent for cash and trying to figure out alien technologies for a hobby His drone is a very small climber designed to look like a cross betweeen a mouse and a centipede and when he isnt doing something with it , it is constantly recording him for his next blog post.  He has a respectable following and has had a number of exploits that were only deemed legal because one of his groupies fixed the books for him.  But now he wants to move on to something bigger and more impressive... He wants to be 'That Yoski: the one little mice look up to and say they want to grow up to be and he will sacrifice quite a bit of himself to get there

If I need to modify something to make the group fit better, let me know.  He's engineering JoT but not much direct use in a firefight and he is really good at finding a way out when fists start flying Hes not much good at medicine so he carries some slap patches so he can patch it and keep running if he gets hit!.  He is setup for primarily engineering tasks but can also pilot and perform computer tasks.  and he and his drone are sneaky... very sneaky.... ::D::ph34r:

Thanks for the help!  I totally missed  the two SRs from theme. Should the SR from class be 9 rather than 8 due to the INT bonus for a total of 12?

Will edit post for now but look into Mythweavers.

Kasathan Solarian Ra-astar Komas Ta'Naton https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=2417782

Originally hailing from a Kasathan enclave on Akiton, Ra-astar took the Tempering more seriously than most, traveling from place to place to learn more about the ways of the other sentients inhabiting this part of the galaxy.  Most recently he has ended up here on Suskillian where he has made many friends.  With the imminent arrival of the swarm, he has joined the SDF to help protect them and the defenseless civilians.

gear may change slightly but he's just about done unless I seem to have missed anything.  He's pretty much a combat-wombat with some face skills.  He's more likely to try and talk his way out of a fight, but if one starts, he has no compunction about being the one to finish it.

@ferret Yes, you're right 8(Class)+1(Int)+1(Racial)=10 SR's with a bonus rank in Culture & Sense Motive due to Operative (Detective)

@Dilvish the Deliverer Looks great!  Personally, I'd go 12 Con for the additional Stamina point, and Fort save.  That's preference though,  nothing major.  What you should keep in mind is leveraging your four arms.  Riot Shield (for AC), Solar Weapon and Singing Disk, still with a free hand.  Don't forget a Called Fusion for the disk when funds permit, might even go Tactical Pike for reach with your upper two arms as situation requires.

Looks like the unit is coming together though.  Love it.

Disk already has the called fusion; the shield will have to wait until I have funds for it. As we find weapons, I'll be upgrading the mix.  Just not enough credits to go around and get everything I want.

thought about the Con, but figured the CHA would come in handy for being the Face, plus with the Soulfire Fusion an extra point of damage is always good.  The best way to avoid damage is to kill your opponent quickly after all.  Working on a list of feats for the future.  It will depend on how we tend to fight as a group.  Weapon Focus is a must.  Close Combat is great.  Mobility for the other feats it opens up.  All kinds of goodness.  I'm going to be the close in specialist so anything that helps be out will help.  I've also got my eye on a bunch of fusions that will help me out.  Throwing so I can just use my Solarian weapon for everything.

ETA: though now that I look at it, I don't think Throwing would work as "Your solar weapon is automatically dismissed if it ever leaves your hand."

Well, the Telia Mystic [Healer] has a name and face, Introducing Doctor Moise H. Oward, Mystic Battle Medic. 400+ years old, extremely sarcastic and will staple you back up if he possibly can. Four foot talla native of the Planet Pygos, speaks Common, Pygothian and Vesk. Is rumored to mutter in several other languages when concentrating. Has a "blessed" Medicinal staff, that he uses as an assault hammer when annoyed. Wields a nasty Caustoject Liquidator that he sometimes loads with questionable serums for use on enemies. Like most of his species who were alive when the Gap hit, his age is an estimate based on the markings of his shell. I will try to figure out the download sheet tomorrow, but I have his written SF sheet worked out.

Question:

The description on page 221 of the core rulebook seems to indicate tool kits are important, e.g. not having an engineering kit results in -2 on engineering check.  However,  they are rarely on the equipment list of the example character sheets I have seen.

Am I overestimating the value of tool kits?

Kits are important and varied.  Prices of them add up over time.  Some are required just to use the skill (Disguise, Hacking, Engineering) while other give a +4 bonus to certain tasks for skills (Trapsmith, Rider's, Thieves tools)  Prices range from 20cr to 445cr per kit.  If you have Computers skill and want to hack, get the Hacker's Kit.  If you want to use Engineering at all, get the Engineer's kit.  As you get cash, pick up the other kits to give you bonuses on common tasks.

OK "Player's Guide"

I'm just gonna go with this:

Archives of Nethys: Fate of the Fifth page

Ok this is a summary page for the adventure on AoN (the rules archive page for all things Paizo). The page does have some GM only stuff on it but I hope as players you'll avoid those & just look at the equipment links as these are in the Player's Guide in the first AP. Some of these appear to be standard stuff a person in the military might have on them. So feel free to buy up to your level if you still have cash.

Also playing starting post is up but it's more or less a placeholder for now. I'll try to get the post more alive tomorrow or sometime this week.
