Wednesday, March 3: If you listen to music, what song do you think you’ve listened to the most in the last few months?

What I've listened to most vs what I remember choosing to listen too...

CAn't tell you the first one, but on the second it would be one of these:

Nothing in particular, I usually just let my playlist run though.

Past few months, hmmm... probably the entire soundtrack from the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It gets loaded up when I need background noise.

Well I can't hear music anymore, but all the old songs I have heard play back on demand.

The one that seems to pop up regularly is Paul Williams' I Won't Last A Day Without You as sung by Karen Carpenter.

I'm not a music listener. But the last few months, I'd guess it would be any theme song from shows I've been recently watching.

I don’t have a playlist...

If you have no playlist can you legitimately claim you listen to music?

It is probably some nameless free tune that people use for a soundtrack in videos like this:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2RZVTMqZP_o

I eventually ended up ^ there after following one of @Glitterwolf’s video-YouTube links. Along the way (in no particular order) there were aircraft carriers, puppies, dogs, doctors, F-18s, Tigercats, tsunamis, DDG-105, toddlers with dogs, and Brian Blessed reading [!!?] the news.

But me actively choosing to listen to something by a deliberate action: it would have to be one of three things:

1) Various versions of the movie theme music to Where Eagles Dare. (I finally settled on the version done by The Coldstream Guards for purposes of Glitterwolf’s question.)

2) The Talkings Heads version of Take Me To The River. (The original was actually a gospel/blues song! Originally performed by... (Al Green?) I even found a recording of it where BB King pitched in on lead guitar.)

3) The Syrinscape music soundtrack that Frank Schumacher uses for Reaper Errant.

Something by In This Moment.  Their catalog on Prime Music is my current playlist for painting or anything else where I need to focus.

I've almost always got some music going, but for most of the day it's classical music to help me focus through the work. Usually it's something rather light and forgettable, Vivaldi or Debussy. But lately I've been on a Prokofiev and Stravinsky kick and have just been leaving either of those composers running on random on spotify for 8 to 9 hours a day. Since everyone tries to play their most famous pieces you hear a lot of the same songs played several times throughout the day. Right now I'm guessing it's a toss up for most heard song between Prokofiev's Third Piano concerto or something from Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.

Probably "This Land is Your Land" because I listen to everything in rotation.  I probably have that song by many different singers that it goes to the top of the list.

But looking at a previous answer I would have to say the title song from Stargate: Infinity.  I just watched all the episodes so 26 times heard the title song.  Make that 52 times because it also played at the credits.

Not a specific song, but I've been listening to a lot of EDM and Synthwave.

I listen to so much music. Hard to say what song I listened to MOST, because I listen to a wide variety, depending on mood and setting. In the truck, my default disc is Yo Yo Ma's Bach Cello Suite. Having relaxing music while driving is a good thing, Bach is my absolute favorite composer, and the cello sits in a pleasant aural range.

I've been playing a lot of bass as my creative outlet, using the "game" Rocksmith as my jambox (it's like Guitar Hero but with real guitar/bass/vocal). For that I play a pretty wide variety, too, but my most played song that usually gets a spin near the end of the setlist (because i need to be warmed up to play it!) is Iron Maiden's Aces High. Here's what I can remember from last night's list (Aces High was on a rest, I played it before starting the set as a warmup!):

Rock & Roll Ain't Noise Pollution - AC/DC (let the neighbors know what's up, heh)

Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City - Bobby Bland

Let the Good Times Roll - The Cars

Where Eagles Dare - Iron Maiden

Psycho Killer - The Talking Heads (newest playlist material!)

Am I Savage? - Metallica (also new!)

Distant Early Warning - Rush

Hash Pipe - Weezer

Papa's Got a Brand New Bag - James Brown (new)

Freddy's Dead - Curtis Mayfield

I Thank You - ZZ Top (new)

I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide - ZZ Top

Call Me The Breeze - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Evidence - Faith No More

Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots

Cicatriz ESP - Mars Volta

I'm pretty sure that's accurate, I may have forgotten or misremembered a couple. I currently have roughly 1500 songs in my Rocksmith library, so there can be pretty wide variance, but some of those are cornerstones in my set. I was pretty happy hitting 93% on my cold read of the Metallica song!

edited to add: what are the chances @TGP and I both mention Where Eagles Dare (though very different songs)?

Did Iron Maiden have to pay royalties to someone to use the title for the song they released?

Maybe to Alistair MacClean or to whoever holds the rights to the movie theme (MGM?) ?

The rules: as they were last month (in addition to all regular forum rules) except where I sneakily changed them:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question. †
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day, a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one... ††
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted sometime before 1 AM Reaper time (US Central).
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to Talespinner or Morihalda…
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.
      8. Pix always welcome.

The first question will need to be posted after a brief (10 minute) pause to foil the merging of posts.
The footnotes, because I can't resist doing †††footnotes:

      † I will aim for 0600 Reaper/Nottingham time.
††  If subs and backstops could wait until 11AM in Reaper/Denton's timezone to see if I remember.
      ††† …because I re-remembered how to do the dagger ( † ) symbol.
