What’s with the ominous ellipses?

So many people seem to be low-key griping about the fact they weren’t first. Archon started delivery 2 months ahead of schedule. Last week they reported being ~40% complete with shipments, and that they ship 200 orders per day.  At that rate they’ll finish fulfillment before we arrive at the August 2022 projected fulfillment month.

I just don’t get it.

I’m still waiting, but I’m ok with that. I have so much other hobby stuff to keep me busy. Plus I’m used to Oz getting fulfilled last.

@1dunnj What mini is this?  Is that the Witch-hunter? I saw a single Witch-Hunter boxed mini on someone’s unboxing video, but I don’t recall anything about it from the campaign, and a perusal of the campaign page doesn’t show anything that sticks out to me as being that.

Yes thats the witch hunter. I only got townsfolk and stretchgoals as addons, no core pledge, so maybe it was part of of of those (i didn't end up with lich, which is the other single model box).

@Nunaehow is the flash on these models?  How much cleaning do they need?

very little flash in my opinion, but i'm not super particular about it. there are a tone of sprue connections, so i've done a little sanding/scraping rough sprue marks from cutting (or just recutting nubs after they're off sprue), but absolutely no scraping mold lines.

Awesome build!  How many of each set did it take to make that?

It's not my build, but I asked and got these replies! 🙂

"If you go for one-story only, you have probably 1.5 Roof sets per 1 room set. If you use balustrades and some two-story buildings, one roof set is sufficient for around 3 room sets."

"- I used just one roof set for the roof itself

- The ground level is from three stone tower sets

- The first level from three tudor sets.

- I used all my "tudor" trims (from three roof sets and three tudor sets) and was forced to use the cabin ones for the balconys - still waiting for the rest of my order and with it the trims - sets - you need a lot of them indeed.

I have plenty of walls with windows and doors unused but no simple walls left - there are way too few walls without windows and doors in the sets and I extremely miss small tudorwalls for the inner side of the house - would be a no brainer for me if they offer small and long walls without windows and doors seperately in additional sets for the themes."

"I highly recommend to do not clean up mould lines on the connectors so that they hold tighter!"

Bene, the builder 🙂 also posted a look inside!

Why do some people try to read too deeply into things...

Gee, I dunno…

Quote

Definition of ellipsis

1a: the omission of one or more words that are obviously understood but that must be supplied to make a construction grammatically complete

b: a sudden leap from one topic to another

2: marks or a mark (such as … ) indicating an omission (as of words)

An ellipse, indicating there was more to be said, but was omitted, and the reader should thus read more into the statement than was written.

Use correct grammar if you don’t want people to read more into your statements than what you wrote.

No need to be rude.

Another point I failed to add before is that Mrs. GG and I did not get an email about a problem with Germany which was mentioned prior to my post. Also, Dwarven Forge is currently having a problem importing their Wildlands Kickstarter pledges into Germany.

We have D&L 1&2 as well as Rampart 1&2 sets. We are confident Archon will deliver but we would still feel better about pledging if our D&L 3 was already here. And we feel D&L could do with a longer backer consultation period to better plan the campaign.

As it stands we like what we see and will likely do the 4 set pledge and hope the scaling comes out ok.

To be clear, @Grumpy Gnome, I was speaking to Auberon in that post.

You made a reasonable reply to the misunderstanding. You didn’t seem incensed that I took the cue of a punctuation mark whose purpose is to cause the reader to read more into the statement… to read more into the statement.

How did you managed to get incensed out of that? :wow: If that's how you read it we work on completely different wavelengths.

And to be clear, I already have a shelf full of D&L from their earlier rapid rewards shipment.  I don't need the rest today, tomorrow, or even next month.  I do find it bad form to launch a new KS in the middle of fulfilling their last one, but they are hardly the first to do so.

I do think we're just seeing the limitations of written communication in action. Tone is very hard to convey in a forum and very easily misinterpreted, especially if you have a high variety in age ranges and nationalities.

I've been quite happy with my stretch goals as I glue them together. It's a bit of a puzzle, but I like puzzles. Only critique would be that I'd like more of one monster group/theme instead of having so many different ones. Two to four of one type of monster are just not enough for my encounter building needs. That's why I love their City Watch though: plenty of cohesive figures, both male and female, in different poses for my games. Even if the players decide to assault members of the guard in the middle of a market and get tons of back-up thrown at them - again. 😄
