The rules: as they were last month (in addition to all regular forum rules) except where I sneakily changed them:

1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.

1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day, a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one... ††

2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
3. Questions are going to be posted sometime before 1 AM Reaper time (US Central).
4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to Talespinner or Morihalda…
5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.

8. Pix always welcome.

The first question will need to be posted after a brief (10 minute) pause to foil the merging of posts.

The footnotes, because I can't resist doing †††footnotes:

 I will aim for 0600 Reaper/Nottingham time.

††  If subs and backstops could wait until 11AM in Reaper/Denton's timezone to see if I remember.

††† …because I re-remembered how to do the dagger ( † ) symbol.

April First — (This series of Questions inspired by Thoramel†) : What is your favorite Baseball Team?

If it is not the Cincinnati Reds, how can Thoramel convince you otherwise?

Without looking it up have you ever heard of the mighty Sidd Finch, a pitcher who did not play for the Reds?

If baseball is not a much of a thing in your locale, what have you been getting up to this April 1st??

I'm Canadian, so it's Blue Jays to the end (I still remember when they won back-to-back World Series). I do faintly recall the story of Sidd Finch when I was a child, and his case was most curious.

Apparently —no fooling— it is opening Day for kind of the sportsball known as baseball in the US. †Thoramel might be a fan of the Reds. Interestingly they might be the oldest professional sports team anywhere. Also, they are named after the socks of their original uniforms, like The Boston Red Sox, but shorter.

I am told by the local professional TalkingSportsHeads that the local baseball team is a train wreck. So, sure Go Reds!

Are the Tigers any good? Magnum as played by Tom Selleck, was a big Tigers fan and I liked that show.

(I accidentally looked this up while looking up other matters related to baseball so I do not get to respond to this one.)

baseball, isn't the the game of some number of grown men throwing a small white ball at each other whilst trying to hit it with a carved tree branch?

baseball isn't a thing around here, and this April 1st I've been cleaning and oiling the chicken coop, and moving temporary fencing around for the goats

Baseball is not a thing for me, almost no teamsport is.

Doing small repairs around the house, walk Brutus , browse the web.

I have a few days off due to the kitchen project.

Electrician and painter will come tomorrow.

Churros, tacos, and pizza are usually a good way of trying to convince me.  Pizza and wings are even more effective.

Who?  That sounds like some guy wearing a cardigan and monocle, but in reality is several finches in a sweater hoping you won't notice their regular desire for seeds to snack on...

Yeah, we have a baseball diamond and supposedly a team (Edmonton... Capitals I think?) but yeah, they haven't played for like five years and Telus Field has been a ghost town.  It's almost like everyone stopped caring about baseball and soccer/football here over two decades ago.

As for what I've been up to?  Watching Gundam Unicorn, and very soon it will be sleep alongside hoping a package actually made it to the city tonight, and that they'll also actually try delivering it too.

Baseball's not a thing round these parts (We have rounders, which is similar, but I don't think people play it outside of school PE lessons).

Today I'm mostly twiddling my thumbs waiting for a man to fit a new circuit-board in our boiler so we can have hot water again.

St. Louis Cardinals.

He can't.  We'll be beating up on the Reds in divisional play this year. At least he's not a Pittsburgh fan. I believe they won't have much to cheer about this year.

1) It's the Atlanta Braves, though I haven't watched a baseball game in over a decade (and that was a Reds game). Sorry, I spent time in Atlanta during those formative years when you are introduced to sports.

2) Given enough of his homebrew beer, I'm sure he could convince me that I am a Cincinnati Red.

3) No.

4) Currently, it was spent sleeping and now waking up. The girls' morning routine is next, as well as a possible vet call.

As a French Canadian, for a long time it was the Montreal Expos. But they went away in 2004. Only the mascot Youppi! survives as the NHL Montreal Canadian's mascot.

So if my old team no longer exists, I should switch my allegiance to the Blue Jays. But I think it's my patriotic duty to hate Toronto.

So sure, why not, I'll support the Cincinnati Reds. The team that sounds like a slushie flavor.

I once saw Sidd Finch pitch at an expo game for retired ball players and he still threw a 109 mph fastball. Then him and Johnny Bench went and led a yoga class for inebriated baseball fans. Swear to goodness.

Not looking like it this year.

Well, then I've got good news for you. At any home or away game where a Reds pitcher throws 11 strikes LaRosa's pizza, a regional chain out of Cincinnati, gives away 2000 free pizzas. So, now that you're a Reds fan you're going to want to get a Votto Jersey, we hate our team's owners and have since the 80's, and we can't stand people from Pittsburgh (not really, but for the purposes of baseball they're just the worst).

Funny, that's exactly what we say about St Louis fans when discussing Pittsburgh fans.

I have to head out to a work site for a while so won't be able to try and convince anyone to root for the best team of any sport ever, but here's a fun reason to be a Reds fan. You know how at some professional sporting events they have a t shirt cannon that launches souvenirs up into the stands? Not the Reds, they have Redzilla, a semi automatic rotary T shirt cannon mounted on a small vehicle.

I have never been able to muster the capacity to care about baseball, nor Ohio. :poke:::P:

Today is just going to be a slow day at work (probably), then some hot power yoga this evening.
