Question, April 21st: If you could spend one day shadowing an artist and talking shop who would you choose??

@TGP's mention of the cave artists of Lascaux is who I'd go for. So many fascinating things we don't know about the artists, and seeing art that old makes me really quite emotional.

I don't know that me talking shop with an artist would be very productive. I mean they could be talking all about technique, inspiration, and talent. And I'd probably be coming up with the conversational equivalent of "I think orange is my favorite flavor of paint." Therefore, if I were to hang out with an artist for a day, I'd have to choose one who seems like they'd be fun to have a drink with. Historically, Toulouse-Lautrec seems like a good choice for that. If we're going with artists in our hobby then that Weibe fellow looks like he'd be fun to have a beer with.

Huhn. I don't know. There are artists I'd like to learn from, but .. you're asking me to /pick one/.

And I'm not sure I can do that. I could probably spend a year shadowing artists, and still there would be somebody I wanna learn a thing from, or just talk shop with!

Sure, I could choose Wappel, or Corporea, or any number of great painters or Reaper crew, or forum members..

But I'll playfully say Evie from Walter's Workshop.  That's right, I chose Evan's dog.  Evan can come with too, because hey, I like the sound of taking a dog out for walks, and axe throwing!

If I had to choose an actual person, I suppose I'd go with Dylan O'Donel (hope I spelt that right) because BBQ and.. I suppose I could try more beer or something ::P:

Challenge accepted. Hope you've brought a 40k list. ::D:

My beautiful painting helps distract from my awful gaming. If I lived at Hogwarts, my wizard chess pieces would be missing from the box, all hiding in other games. Game of Life would seem to be a perennial favorite; they like that no one dies, you don't have to go to college and the idea of having 12 kids seems to appeal to them.

All fine things for them to aspire to. ::):

Question, April 22nd: Do you play tabletop games other than RPGs? If so, do you prefer board games, card games, war games or what?

Tabletop war games seem to be a favourite of mine, with Infinity being the biggest one at this time.  We also rather enjoy playing Clank! in our place...

RPGs aren't really a thing in our place, although we were starting to look for a group to join before the pandemic hit.

Card games can be fun, provided they aren't downright stupid, with massive power creep, and a need to keep pouring $500 or more every year into a cosmic void in order to hopefully have a deck that is semi-reasonable in this day and age...  Yeah, bitter ex-M:TG gamer here.

We do play Board Games and Card Games.

My favorites are Ticket to Ride, The Card Game of Catan, Risk and Monopoly.

Also the Catan Board games like The Road to Rome and other variatons.

A couple of my very close friends own the FLGS store and I'm there pretty near every day that they're open, so my exposure to games is very high. The owner's husband runs the local Gamers Guild here at the Cardboard Armory, and used to have a board game day on the first Saturday of every month. I got exposed to a lot of fantastic games like Red Dragon Inn, Werewolf, and Rattlebones, and I'll be glad when we're able to hold them again. Right now I regularly play Magic the Gathering (in the Commander format), and I'm still deep into Warhammer 40K and the latest Games Workshop releases, will be getting into Warhammer Quest: Cursed City very soon as well.

None of the above.

I keep trying to get my housemate interested in board games but they're just not her thing, and I've yet to find something that really works solo.

Yes, yes and yes.

I used to play a LOT of CCGs but got out of that quite a while ago.  We still play card games like Skipbo and Uno and like.  And the boy recently has got into Magic a bit, so I've been playing it against him and my wife as he tries it out.

Board games, here we play a fair amount of Wingspan, Ticket to Ride and Formula D. I have a few "board games" that include minis (Mercs: Recon, Infinity Defiance, SMOG: Rise of Moloch) but since moving here I don't have the gaming group to play them.

I most prefer war games, since they get me to buy (and theoretically paint) lots of minis.  Star Wars Legion is my game of choice right now. My wife will play occasionally and we play once every two weeks at the FLGS, as restrictions allow.
