Question, April 5th: Poseidon and Athena, both Greek Olympian deities, had a contest to have the people name a city for them. Poseidon gifted the people the horse and Athena gave them the olive tree. Athena won; Athens is named for her. If you were an Olympian, what would you gift your people in hopes of winning the contest?

Pokemons. I'm sure they will love hunting pokemons for fun and friendship!

Question April Second  Desserts! What is the most interesting thing ever offered to you for dessert??

Hmm, I'm not sure if the more "interesting" ones my sisters have made had official names.  Both my sisters are experimental bakers, in the "I've never made this before but it sounds good, but I'm going to make substitutes to the ingredients and/or modifications to the amounts, and then bring it to a holiday meal" kind of way.

They are often interesting, in a number of ways.....

Question April 3rd — Do you remember dreams very well?

Bonus weekend activity: recount some, if they were non-nightmares and family friendly, happy sorts of things.

I have sleep apnea. When it first developed it was back before the wonder that is the modern sleep apnea machine, so I had to have surgery (which fixed it for a while...I have a CPAP machine now).
I don't remember the first dream I had after, but I do remember waking up and realizing I'd had a dream, and that I couldn't remember the last time I'd woken up with that feeling. It was a wonderful feeling.

I usually don't remember my dreams, at least for long.  When I'm GMing and doing my own world building and planning and getting really into it, I'll sometimes literally dream up encounters.

But I do still remember one vivid dream from somewhere in my teen years. It involved me being underwater and having to be convinced that I could breath underwater, finally having to take that breath, and then joyfully swimming without having to come up for air.  I seem to recall not wanting to wake up from that one.  It probably meant something at the time but if so I still don't know what.

That seems entirely ridiculous for Poseidon to gift a horse. If I were him, I would've gone with 'aquaduct'.

Maybe the gift was the species.

Specifically the domesticated, trainable, rideable Horse..?

That might be the premise.

Now stop burning down my temples! I swear I thought you'd like my previous Rubik Cube idea.

This was my question, so I feel the need to elaborate. The gift was the species. The idea was that the most useful gift won. The horse could pull, be ridden, had manure for crops &c. The olive tree had fruit, oil, wood, &c.

I would gift them fire and spare Prometheus the agony of having his liver ripped out by a giant eagle for all eternity. Besides, Khantos has a certain ring to it, no?

Sidd Finch was never a player for the Reds, the Red Sox, any other hue of Sox, or the Mets. He and his legendary 168mph ( :wow: ) fastball were fictional, an April Fool's Hoax created by a New York magazine — he supposedly tried out for the Mets and briefly considered signing with them (instead of devoting himself to a musical career playing the French horn). It is a fun story to look up.

Go Reds.

I had a Sports Illustrated subscription back in those days and remember being one of the people duped by the original article. Looking back I should have known that the idea of a guy learning to throw insane fastballs because of his training with Buddhist monks was silly. But, as a lifelong Reds fan, you get used to hoping for the impossible.

Occasionally I remember my dreams, but mostly only fragments of them. The exception being a recurring stress dream I have. It's always the same, it's finals week in college and I realize I have an exam for a class I need to graduate but haven't attended all semester. I show up for the exam but don't know anything. That's when I usually wake up. This doesn't happen very often these days, but when I was in college averaging 17 credit hours a semester and working a couple of part time jobs I had it all the time.

I would gift people the ability to feel the emotions of people they help... or hurt.  Every time they did something that made people happy the feelings would amplify for everyone involved.  Each time someone was hurt by another the pain would transfer to the person who caused it.   It would be interesting to see how humans would react to their new gifts.

Well, I was gonna be a smart-alek and say 'the internet'. Since it's supposed to be a useful gift, I'll need to come up with something else.

Cannabis indica...Scythian Fire.  Maybe I'll win maybe not, but my people certainly will enjoy themselves- and possibly unveil a mystery or two.

No chance I'd win. @Sylverthorne already trumped me with dragons. But my thought was to one-up Poseidon with these things:

Any city could do with some guardian creatures…

Question, April 6th: Pretend you won the contest from Monday (yesterday). An Ancient People names their city after you, what is the name of the City?
