Entrigan
I played chainmail and loved it. As far as gnoll minis though I have never seen the chainmails line's equal. But as good as the good was the bas was just as bad. When I see that swiftwind monk with that assanine hair it makes me think of the Wayens brother on In Living Color who did all of the "Men on Film" sketches. That monk definately got two snaps, a twist, and a finger down my throat!
Super Jag
As for playing Chainmail... the game was lousy! The miniatures themselves seemed to be either GREAT or HORRIBLE and nothing in between for the quality of sculpts. I absolutely loved the Gnolls and Dwarves from that game. I still have those models in fact and found that they brought out a very high quality of paint work (pro level if I may be so bold as to blow my own horn). Unfortunately I've not been able to find a use for them and am seriously considering selling them on eBay or something like that.

Reaper's Warlord is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better. It really isn't even a fair comparison. I have the Horde, Gnolls, Humans, and Elves. I have tried to sell a couple on eBay - only to get a buck or so after all the fees. I did see the hill giant recently, which I have and wouldn't let go, go for a nice amount. CM_
Here's a few I've done. They're probably my two favorite chainmail minis. Salamander Trooper Ice Para-elemental
Lars Porsenna
Those Sally's are pretty sweet! I never found one to buy...and I just checked out Ebay (nothing but plastic junk...and a couple painted Reaper figures!) so alas... I also have the Ice Para...maybe I'll put a little work in him tonite. I wish someone would do a Smioke Para, one of my favorites of the series... Damon. I put in a custom order at my FLGS: Salamander Chainmail Set 4 and naturally got a set of 4 salamanders. You want one? (or two? or three?) Mourningcloud
hehe i thought i was the only chainmail gnoll lover-they are the best around. this line brought much to tha table (so to speak ) as far as rpg miniatures (ironic as it was designed for a tabletop battle game lol)-where else do you find miniatures with spears, bows, and various other missle weapons strapped to the warrior's backs? i am currently converting the superbly sculpted yet awkwardly posed gnoll cleric into an armored gnoll swordsman/archer. will post pics just as soon as i get a digital camera lol. Ler
I had difficulty getting ahold of chainmail figures, though found it much easier to get their 3e metal d&d stuff which I have quite a lot of (I love the beholder). However I did manage to pick up the House Kilsek faction box. I wasn't all that impressed overall, I didn't like the drow mage, his staff was.. well... weird with that big spider thing on top. The drow fighter seemed kinda flat, though the ranger wasn't bad. BUT! The Kuo-Toa were really cool! and you got two in the box! I really like the way they look. On a side note, I did like the chainmail gnolls a lot and am a bit dissapointed I didn't manage to get any. I was also very fond of the abyssal maw. =)
CM_
The earlier releases are pretty easy to come by on ebay, and some online stores still carry a few here and there. The later releases (which IMO were some of the better sculpts) are a lot harder to find. I feel sorry for my FLGS, who picked up a huge order right before the game was cancelled. If anyone's interested I can see what they have and buy them by proxy for you. I know for a fact they have a few of the limited edition ogre, some centaurs, and a lot of human, dwarf, and elf stuff. Lady Tam
I have the gnoll ranger, plan on painting him after seeing jester's version of him. Was able to pick up some of the orcs, and a few others on e-bay. May go looking for some more gnolls. One thing for sure, they were good at putting out monsters. Right now I am buying the ones fro the 'new' plastic boxes only keeping what I want, trading the rest back to my FGS for product. And what they dont' take, wil go to a garage sale next week! All this just for those darn Wyrmlings in the Giants box set, which, darn it, I haven't found yet. Go figure, I don't want the big ones, (but won't complain if I get them) I want the little ones! I have the teifling on that came with the little red dragon, he's prett cool too, as is the dragon. Was never really thrilled with the fell drakes, but they were kind of cute. lionmane
The only CM mini I recall picking up was some big mandrill with huge-a$$ spiked gauntlets in a charging pose. My friend uses it with his 100K ape minis for his homebrew Mordheim warband. He also has the Elven Ranger with the two battle axes....I liked that one, just because you don't often see an elf with anything but a bow or sword. Digital M@
There was a dwarf with a warhammer and shield that I always wanted but could never find. I will see if I can dig up a picture later this week.
