May 1 & 2 Quizzle!

May 1st, How many times did you move as a child [that's under 18]?

May 2nd, How many times have you moved as an adult?

So, we lived in two different apartments from before I remember. Then we moved into the town house that we lived in until we left North Carolina. That’s at least 3.

We then moved to new Mexico, where we lived in two different houses. We’re up to 5.

When I got to Washington I lived in a tiny apartment with my mom. When my dad and brothers got there, we were homeless for a bit. We lived in two different apartments in the same complex before we moved to a different complex because of a fire. So we’re up to 9.

When my brother and I decided to move out we moved to a complex where we lived in three different units before I moved to Southern California for 9 months. That’s 4 moves as an adult.

When I came back to Washington, I lived briefly with my dad, then lived with my brother and his girlfriend in two different apartments. That’s 7.

Then I moved in with my eventual husband, where we lived in 3 different apartments before we left Washington.

Making my total moves as an adult 11. Wow, I’ve moved 20 times in my life.

01 May: Moved once in the first 18 years of life, approximately 4 miles. But we got out of the valley where all the smoke just hung around and gave us all sinus problems to the top of a hill.

02 May: As an adult, 13 or 14 so far.

6 times before the age of 18. 11 times since then. Unless I'm forgetting something.

I moved once (twice if you include going to college).  It was a big move, I moved next door when I was one.

I have to add that I lived with my Grand Uncle on a Dairy Farm for a couple weeks while my mother was in the Hospital.  It was interesting because my Grand Uncle was blind but still ran the farm.  He used a radio to navigate around the barn.

As an adult I moved four times. The second was just upstairs in an apartment building for just a few months.  My wife and I moved into a two bedroom apartment while waiting to buy our first house. The house I am now in recently became the place I have lived in longest as an adult.

May 1st. Never. Lived on the farm with my parent's until I was 18.

May 2nd. 3 times to different apartments and houses while going to university. 3 times back home to the farm after finishing each year and once more permanently to town 7 years ago. Still have the farm house and sleep there occasionally when busy.

As a child? Never. Nothing permanent anyway. Always moved back in afterwards.

As an adult? 1...2...3...4...5...6... that was college... 7...8...9...10...11...12...13...14...15!

Yep 15 times. Over 18 years.

Oooof

1st: 0

2nd: 10ish, though most of those are college related since I lived somewhere different almost every year.

Oof. Growing up in an unstable household, far too many to count. Maybe... 13 times? 3rd grade alone was 3 schools.

Then 2 more times during "16 year old child that had to be an adult."

I didn't think about it much until about my 3rd move as an adult (I moved every year after the apartment lease was up for better prices elsewhere), and my poor love was so tired. He'd never had to move before. We're very happy with our house now though! I don't plan on moving until the universe and I can agree on a specific set of terms: we get high-speed internet, Mr. Rumbeard doesn't have to drive forever to work, and I'm surrounded by native nature.

It's gonna be a while.
