bushido
Alright, I'm probably over-reacting, but let me set the scene for you: Wed, August 18 7:08 pm EST. So there I was, watching Friends, when a commercial for an upcoming movie- Garden State- comes on. I'd never seen it before, so I was paying more attention than I normally would, and my efforts were rewarded by none other than, you guessed it, frontal nudity!!! Okay, so it was distorted by the water in the pool, but like the title says, it's the principle of the thing. Perhaps we backward Americans are finally casting off our odd inhibitions. Lars Porsenna
Uh oh now the cat's out of the bag! I'll be watching for this commercial! Damon.
Enchantra
Well since I rarely watch TV, I don't see this as an issue.
Kheprera
Yay. Something else for zealots to harp about and allow the FCC complete control over things.
Lady Tam
Perhaps we backward Americans are finally casting off our odd inhibitions. Well one could only hope...but I doubt it. But I could be wrong....... LT
Yoshi
What do you expect from a country founded by Puritans? (Except my home city-founded by circus freaks) We Americans have our priorities mixed when it comes to what we show our youngsters. Murder and shoot outs are okay, the human body is not for some reason. It is a step in the right direction to allow nudity and less violence on TV. Besides, the only thing I watch is "The Simpsons" and remember how freaked the church got when they were going to display the nude David statue: Something to the effect that they shouldn't show the male anatomy because "as functional as those parts are, they're still EVIL" (Maude Flanders)
Vikinglodge
In sweden the nudity and sex is viewed a bit differently. A womans breast are not looked at as something wierd or to be completely obsessed with. At the beach for exampel topless is very commen and people dont stare all the time or view at is wierd. I agree that nudity should not be frowned upon as much as it is, full out sex scenes ofcourse shouldnt be aloud to be seen by minors. But the EXTREME voilence bothers me very much on TV nowdays. We are not much different than the Colluseum days in the old Rome. Very Sad that we havent gotten further than that as socity. Just my rambling thoughts
BunnyPuncher
Bah... I agree with Alan Dean Foster... A race which glorifies it's violence in art is less likely to enact it. Our problem is we are showing cartoonized violence, sowe need even more violence on TV, just more realistic violence.
Unglef
I hate to bust your bubble, Bushido, but I've seen this commercial (though not while watching Fiends-yuck!) And I thought the same thing at first, but the girl's wearing a flesh-colored bikini.
Steven Page
Only a small portion of this country was "founded by Puritans", and they were run out of England on a rail....unfortunately, in the last three hundred years, their influence has grown all out of proportion.....If only Plymouth Rock had been settled by Swedes....... Orsino
My, how times have changed. Now we're complaining about bikinis for an entirely new reason.
Unglef
Hey, I never complain about bikinis, 'cept when a guy's wearing one...*shudder*.

Just saw a more high quality version online. She's wearing light colored/white panties or somesuch. It does look like a pretty good movie though... Qwyksilver
Only a small portion of this country was "founded by Puritans", and they were run out of England on a rail....unfortunately, in the last three hundred years, their influence has grown all out of proportion.....If only Plymouth Rock had been settled by Swedes....... Heh and Plimouth Rock isn't even where the Pilgrims actually landed, nor is it the original rock. I hate the bloody place...of course, growing up in Southeastern Massachusetts we got dragged down to the rock and Plimouth Plantation every November in grade school. Sachem Rock, where the Pilgrims "bought" New England from the Massasoit tribe, was in my home town. Please no Pilgrim/Puritan history. I suffered through 13 years of it... Plimouth Plantation is a cool educational place for kids. The employees all remain in character in period dress. But going every year gets rough :)
