Yeah, it'd be awfully steep just to get the minis. I was really waffling on whether to stick to the basic version without the monster minis, even, but they've been adding with stretch goals pretty good and I just kinda oh-what-the-heck'd it.

Apropos of nothing, I really like the bald witcher. Though I wish he was male-pattern bald instead of cleanly shorn. But still.

Launched today.

Day-1 bonus mini, so if you're thinking about this one and all, don't miss it:

Little pricier than I liked, buuuuuut I do love me some Witcher. Mainly tho my brother is a h u g e fan of the franchise, so I think he'd really enjoy this.

Well that just decided it against for me. No more saving throws required.

The mounted version is available as an add-on, so it's not like you can't get it if you didn't pledge right away.

I didn't win an auction I was bidding on, so I do have money available for this.  Or I could get enough Dungeons and Lasers terrain to build me a house out of it.

I don't wanna yuck anybody's yum (and the minis do definitely look cool) but it's interesting they set something as character-heavy as The Witcher in a completely different time period with (almost) none of the characters we know.

I guess KOTOR got lucky being praised for doing the same thing, but I can't help but feel that without its characters or political conflict, the Witcher is just kinda condensed down to European folklore/fantasy.

Then again, apparently they're making a TV show set in this period too, so what do I know?  Maybe I'm just salty we're not getting Gerault, Cirri, and Yen 😔

It's my understanding that during the popular period with the well known characters monsters have become a bit of an endangered species. Witchers are pretty rare as well and don't often work together much. By setting the game in an earlier time they can have lots of monsters all over the board to keep all the players happy and keep the game going.
