mer....
Recent expenses (almost 1k for my car, plus an ER and dentist bill from my mountain biking accident) have me second guessing my Rcon hotel room.  I live semi close, about an hour away, so I COULD commute each day but having done that my first year it forgoes the option of staying up way late and getting back to the room in time to collapse and sleep as an hour drive is not something I should do on the edge of exhaustion.

Alternately, I could also take it from my vendor hall budget which would get spent mostly on things I don't even really need.  Heck some of the stuff I got in the vendor hall last time around is still in the box, and I still haven't even played a single game with the two CAV starter sets I bought.  But it's all really good stuff!

Go for whatever you think will maximize your enjoyment!

I would probably lean toward the smaller budget for purchases and stay longer each day with the hotel to retire to given your description of the past event, but it's your assessment to make.

So. The police shot a guy where I was working until February. I guess they got called out because the guy wouldn't leave the store. Guy pulled a knife. Officer fired once. The guy is already out of the hospital. And now in jail. I'm just sitting here like "and this is why I don't work there anymore." <_<

I also think that one of my favorite co-workers... Let's be honest, one of my ONLY co-workers is going to quit. She's a good one but she's really stressed out right now. I get it. I was thinking about it and I realized that my tolerance for stress seems to border on inhuman. And I don't know what to make of that.

@Corsair thanks for the immediate back-up on Putty & Paint! That one guy went to my page to whine at me IMMEDIATELY after I clicked Bronze on his recent piece. Dude painted a bust, nice color composition, obviously didn't do solid prep-work before painting, low contrast, paint laid on coarse and sloppy, and the back end of the bust (where it stops having sculpt and is blank) was left untidy.

Apparently voting bronze for him this time makes me "tired" and "low spirit". BWAHAHAHAHA. Bloody old fragile ego twit.

Ahh. And now he's whining on his own piece, calling on his followers. To "Gentlemen of the site". Good god. He thinks that I'm just there to pick on him. Seriously... I'm not. Well, I wasn't. Now honestly it is kinda funny watching him get his panties in a bunch over single votes. When he paints something worth a gold I'll give it to him.

I'll wait.

Oh yeah, not gunna happen since he already thinks he's the best. No one improves like that!

Pettiness like this (retaliatory votes) seems like a prime example of why I seldom go on putty and paint.  I've seen it in the coments before. Seems like showing the creator who voted what would only kind of encourage this behavior..

Well, that and it frequently give me a profound amount of skill envy that it's hard not to turn to discouragement, lol.

It seems pretty bound to this one group from what I've noticed. Cult of fragile ego old French men. Otherwise people vote and move on, or say something nice. Yeah showing who voted what is a TERRIBLE idea. Just opens a door for harassment.

I like seeing the skilled pieces; helps give me ideas. And artists often respond well to "how did you do that?" sorts of dialogue.

I haven't done any retaliatory votes - been receiving them. Joke's on him. I know my work isn't gold medal worthy by site standards and that's okay to me. I keep voting with site standards, if not a bit on the generous side. Even on his pieces.

He's been leading a harassment campaign against me because I abide by the site voting rules for 6mo now. At this point I may as well just laugh at the absurdity... and try to quash a bit since it is super misogynistic. No need to dissuade other women from painting.

I sort of want to sign up and critique his stuff now.

No way that Medusa bust is worthy of a gold.   Like you said, little to no prep work.  Even he should be able to see that - his sloth and Pegasus pieces are much better (or their photos didn't show the flaws as well).

Packing up the car for a picnic Pathfinder game.

The groceries for it were free. Trader Joe's had a computer crash while I was checking out and the manager just sent me on my merry way with $35 of groceries.

So I hit them again today, and bought drinks, as a way of saying thank you. ::):

Husband's going to pick up Thai food. I do not have the energy to cook. I'm not sure I've eaten today now that I think about it.

In other news, I'm slowly rearranging the hobby room for the incoming Bones V AND Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood of Venice. They may very well show up at the same time. I do not know how much our Bones will weigh but Assassin's Creed is a good 40+ lbs. But I justify that by mentioning the AC is a board game so there's lots of paper and whatnot in there too.

We had TACOS for dinner!! :bday:

Oh, wait....it's Wednesday.

Meh, minor detail.

Tacos any day is good in my book.  I don't see why so many try and constrain the raw power of such a delectable food item to just one single day...

My dear old Mumsy is totally an internet troll. She's recently entered seniorhood and retired, so has lots of time to waste following YouTube artists who showcase their gardens. She's upset that her favorite person is now showcasing a huge garden and put in mature trees that no one could ever afford. I explained to her that the more followers you have, the more money you make, and that's probably how she got the money for these extravagances. She was reading the comments and said that no one ever said anything negative, or that all the negative comments were at the bottom. I said a lot of sites let you vote on other peoples' comments; the ones people agree with go to the top. She decided she would have to make an account to say her piece. I was like "Geez Mumsy, don't ever take up painting miniatures, we all say something nice about each other's work here."

You need 4 project submissions to be able to vote. Can comment whenever though just signing up. Almost certainly if you sign up, put whatever up you want, and vote - without even commenting, he will go to your work to harass you. Even if you personally say nothing. Just that one click that isn't gold will set him off. You don't even have to say mean things to him or point out flaws to make him mad. No I would never endorse someone testing this theory. Nope. Not a chance I'd suggest that's a good plan. It is an awful plan that might make another evidence point of his broccolifartery for the one overwhelmed admin to consider. I'm not laughing at the idea of triggering a fragile ego old man into fits, nope, not me.
