I can confirm that regular consumption of fried chicken and cinnamon buns will help you get over that weight restriction in less than 6 weeks.

Not eating chicken anymore. I do need to go get myself a cinnamon bun. The Canada Day buns are soaked in maple syrup. Problem is I just can't eat very much without feeling kinda gross - in general, but especially with maple buns.

I'd really like to donate blood but the buggers won't take half-pints from small people, even though we have perfectly good red juice.

I'd love to donate as well, but rules stuck in a 1980's mindset mean that such just isn't going to happen.   All I will say on the matter is they're taking their sweet time to get their rules changed (they've been talking about it for five years, and have had pressure for a decade and a half to change it)...

You ~did~ all play nice, right?  Right??

I played nice, yes. I play nice very well. I am a trained actor, after all...  ::D:

Actually, I play very well with others...

(Well, okay, I play well with others' toys, but that's close enough, right?)

I know a few people who have similar complaints. Seems pretty ridiculous to me, with the state of medicine what it is now.

I got myself a samosa and a cinnamon bun but I'm in a "meehhh don't want to eat" mode right now. That's unfortunate because I can taste my breath right now in the "you're breathing out too much fat right now" sort of way.

Indeed.  Local genius blew up his house, neighbor's house, and himself this week.  Nearly got a couple of kids while he was at it.  Manufacturing illegal fireworks in the basement.   Sad thing is, we get at least one of these each year....

While at Wallyworld this morning, waiting on my mom, I watched a couple (lets just call them "W-T folks") they were buying red & blue "mardi-gras" style beads. Their son in the shopping cart basket said "Why are you buying those, mommy?" She replied "4th of July!!!" & they went their merry way. I figured they are those folks that spend $100+ on fireworks.

I've never been into them myself. We bought a few when the kids were little but once they out grew em we were eh, no reason too now, besides I'll be working the 4th & 5th so hey Time & half for 8 or more hours on Sunday the countdown starts for next vacation starts (for this year anyways, August 2nd is my yearly). There are 2 nights a year I hate when I walk to work, the 4th of July & the 31st of October. Nuts are out, thou anymore with the hot weather seems like there are more people out roaming even at midnight.....ok then.

Currently 103 & seems like it's gonna hover around this mark, I'm tired of this weather already. No rain, nothing, just hot dry air. I'd just stay up in the bedroom by the AC but dangit, I've got stuff I want to do, that I can't do in there. Hell, even the garage is hot & that is with 2 fans going on in there.

Woot, vacation!

Taking tomorrow and next week off, in fact I had enough hours between last week and this week I got permission from my boss to take it as comp time, so no vacation spent on tomorrow's day off.   This was with me leaving at 10 am last Friday.  Ugh, bids on top off increment planning makes for really long days.  One day last week I worked 12 hours, quit at 10 pm, then was back to working at 6 am the next day.   Did I mention I am so very ready for this vacation!!!

My manager gets to to the monthly budget review with the program where the team is over budget.  I am happy I will miss that...

Hope to spend a lot of time with minis this next week!

Hey everyone, I'm back!

I'm glad to see you back, and happy to hear that feeling mostly well.

I am also in the 'can't donate blood' crew, due to some of the places I've been in the Navy. I have no medical training, so I don't understand exactly why I can't; I haven't gotten sick from anything weird, and it's been at least 10 years since I've been to any of those places.

I still try to give blood every few years to see if the restrictions have changed; so far, they haven't.

My Sibling is doing better. We're still not sure if it was heat related or something viral but they seem to be doing a lot better.

Today was payday. Ended up getting a lot of clothes for the both of us because we need to kind of cull out the stuff that's falling apart. Got some other stuff but not near as much.

Usually I'm not one to be happy for above 30C temps for highs, but them saying 31C high tomorrow is a godsend when we've had four or five days of 35C and above before humidex...  And apparently it's like 28C the day after that.

So happy to be able to consider going outside during the day again, doubly so since I am supposed to be job hunting :p

I am glad to hear it. I won't say I was worried about you when last we talked, but I won't say I wasn't either. Give the wee uns the love and cuddles they need, and get some for yourself.

Thank you! It's been an eventful few weeks and I'm utterly exhausted, but I'm hoping that I can get through this. The kitteh are definitely earning their keep at the moment ^_^ Did you know that they purr at the exact frequency that promotes healing of tissue? There's been a lot of purring from them lately, there's always at least one stuck to me like furry limpets ;)

Thank you! Sorry to be so vague about it, but it's kinda complicated. Let's just say that it's not Covid or the big C, but I don't know how long it's going to affect me. Hopefully not to long!

@Kuroneko glad you are back, your cheerfulness, feline overlords and love of nature's beauty always lift my spirit!

Thank you too! Here's a pic of one of the feline overlords on undercover duty trying to purr me better.

@Kuroneko Welcome back!

Hope you'll be well !

In lesser news...

Brutus had a minor wound last night, I was out of spray bandage, so...yeah...I was so stupid to put a bandage and bandaids on it so it would stop bleeding.

Worked like a charm,

Of course during the night Brutus decided to rip it off and eat the darn bandage.

I'm scared.

See, the Vet gave him emulsion ( I need to administer it 3 times a day) hoping the stuff will come out the natural way easier.

We will know within a week.

If he's still his own cheerful self in a week he'll be safe.

Problem is, if it doesn't, he might need surgery.

If he needs surgery our Vet will not do it because Brutus his intestines are located in his chest instead of his abdomen and are even twirled around / inside a heart pocket.

We will have to visit a specialist then and it will be a high risk thing.

Meaning that if things go really sour I might have killed my dog.

By someone breaking into the cabinet to steal money.

As a manufacturer, our position is if that happens and the brackets can't be bent back to shape and the door properly closed again, the cabinet & door should be replaced.

We're in a no-win situation.  We have to make the cabinet/door tough enough to resist break ins, but the tougher we make it, the more expensive the units become, the more damage thieves do while breaking in and the bigger the cost to replace.  We can make more of those parts field replaceable, but then the units become easier to break into, which leads to more break ins.

As it stands now, most of the thieves who break into car wash tellers (from any manufacturer) are doing felony level damage for misdemeanor levels of payout.

This is why they should all switch to machines only accepting cards. No money inside.

I can't remember the last time I saw a car wash that accepted coins.

There are some diseases it's very difficult/expensive to test for, and some of these can stay latent in your body for many years.

So, staying in Great Britain for more than a year in the period 1980 to 1996, or got a blood transfusion there after 1980 is instant dismissal.

(Blood testing was NOT good in GB back then... This is on the current list here in Norway, revised in 2017. )

@Glitterwolf---I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news.

@Kuroneko---No need to apologize, if you wish to maintain privacy, that's certainly your right. ::):

@ everyone else---I hope you have a good weekend and manage to find some relief from the heat.
