I was unaware of this company, but looking at it now, I love the Norse human miniatures he has. Wow.

How does the scale compare? Smaller than Reaper’s typical figures?

Based on the few I have seen, closer to true 25mm than Reaper's "heroic" size.

Yes, Tre's style is very much a true 25mm scale. If you are used to Reaper, they are much smaller, but the anatomy is very well proportioned. If you are familiar with the old pre-painted D&D figures by Wizkids (before their pre-primed stuff came out) the humans are of similar scale; the dwarves are smaller than the Wizkids. They also scale very nicely with Mantic's Undead faction (if you have never seen this diorama called "Outnumbered" on Brush Hour, you are missing out).

If I can get enough time in the next day, I'll take a picture of a few next to some other manufacturers.

I hope we can pull together a fair amount of final sales for RBG and Tre. I passed the news along to my brother, who passed it along to some of his friends that placed orders.

EDIT: Link doesn't display the actual picture. Go to the painter's site, click on the Fantasy tab, and then look for Outnumbered.

Quite sad, but I feared something like this was about to happen. Just not a lot of new projects/sculpts going out, and older ones disappearing from the site. I really enjoy Tre's work though, and I ordered a few figures I was eyeing for a longer time. I was kinda hoping he might sculpt more Elves, since I adore his take on those in particular.

I already own a few RBG figures and they mix in well enough with my other miniatures. For PCs we already use Darksword, Oathsworn and Reaper (both metal and plastic) and a Raging Heroes one, so they're not all the same height anyway. RBG, Darksword and Hasslefree look especially good with each other, and if one equals out the sculpted bases DSM comes with, they have less of a height difference than we real humans have sitting around the table. I just moved so my collection isn't completly accessible right now, but I can also try to make a scale comparison picture later.

As I mentioned already, RBG tends to fit quite well with Hasslefree. Scale-wise and style-wise, imo. Scale-wise, they fit fairly well with old Ral Partha and Grenadier, too, but they feel a bit like supermodels tossed in with ordinary folk next to the somewhat crude stuff from the 80s and 90s. Times, they are a-changing.

Hmm, doesn't look like any of the discontinued Helsvakt made a last hurrah comeback in the store, does it? A pity, there's a couple I really would've liked to finally get my hands on.

Reaper uses a 'heroic' scale which means the proportions are larger to make for easier painting, handling, etc...

Tre uses 'true; 28mm so a figure may be 28mm at the head but the size of the limbs aren't exaggerated. Next to a 25mm heroic, it would fit in but that's because well, the 25 heroic isn't really 25 eh?

If you have any Hasselfree or Frostgrave/Northstar miniatures, there's similiar if a touch smaller.

Recheck his store, I just checked and he has added several back under the Evil Barbarian tab. I am hoping he'll be adding more back from other lines in the coming week.

The Helsvakt were in the store when I looked today.  I'm going to miss Red Box a lot - it was one of my go-to mini lines.  Not just b/c the figures look great but also b/c the scale makes them much more compatible with historical figure lines (plus a few fantasy ranges like Mantic) than most current fantasy ranges like Reaper etc.  This works great if you want a standout leader/spellcaster/standard bearer/priest to drop in among the rank and file.

Ah, man. I'm late to this news. What an absolute bummer. Tre is I think the first sculptor whose work I fell in love with when I started painting again a few years ago (you know, minus Garrity and Guthrie and Meyer and those kind of folks I knew back before). The world's gonna be worse off without Red Box. His big muscled he-men (and orcs) jump right to mind I guess, but I love so many of his fat old guys and more delicate ladies so much too. One of the really neat things with Red Box was watching the way he refined and evolved certain ideas, some of those characters or types to which he seemed to frequently return, over time. I've never really gotten to see that kind of thing with another sculptor, and I dunno. Seemed neat to me, though maybe I was thinking about it too much.

I haven't checked in on his stuff in way too long, as I haven't been painting for a few years now even, but I just tore broccoli all through his store in a fit of desperation. It could've been a lot more dangerous than it turned out. Picked up a dozen minis I hadn't seen before (that wolf-riding goblin! the dwarves! several of those wizards!) but managed to resist buying an extra copy of Tradkarl or Magda. Don't think I saw Ullr the Red or I'd've been tempted to buy another of him too. Some of my favorite minis ever, no joke.

Anyway. Bummer. Godspeed Tre.

Edit/update: could have gotten more dangerous and did. I went back. But that's gotta be it.

Too many great minis.

Just a friendly reminder that there are two weeks left before RBG shuts down, which means only two weeks left to get those awesome figures before they are out-of-production forever. Ever wanted to own a piece of art? Well, here's your chance to grab a slice of it! Tre's style is iconic, so get it while you can if you are on the fence.

(No, I do not receive a shilling bonus. Just trying to drum up as much of a send off for Tre and RBG as I can. Tre Manor is one of the nicest people in an industry of nice people.)

Well, I just placed a relatively hefty order with RBG. My anticipation can focus on that now, since reaper revealed today there are more missing items, resulting in holding up my Bones 5 delivery.

I can’t wait to see these fantastic Norse themed mini’s in hand.

He's posting on facebook about it. Apparently the order he placed with his caster is quite a bit larger than usual (and a lot of the miniatures were brought back specifically for this sale, so he doesn't have stock laying around). Should be good to go this week though, according to fb.

Latest from Tre via the RBG Facebook page:

"OK I am getting a lot of requests to hold the closing off for just a wee little bit longer to accommodate people who only just found out about it yesterday. So I am going to keep the store open to the 15th of July ONLY. After that the store closes and all metal is permanently unavailable there after.

Thus far the sale has gone really well. Much better than I had hoped and I am SO thankful to you all for your support and encouragement and SO happy that I have made something that makes people happy.

Thanks SO much everybody."

Good news and super happy that the closeout is going well. Keep spreading the word!

Last day to place any orders for RBG. Tre hasn't announced any further extensions, so if you've been on the fence about ordering, the final hours are upon you!

Tre has inquired if there is interest in buying STL files for those who 3D print, so if you have Facebook and want to offer feedback to him, you can head to the RBG FB page to leave your thoughts.
