Keep that mini safe somewhere, and in a year paint another like that and compare, you might be surprised. I recommend watchin Youtube vids on the subject ( painting fantasy miniatures) and browsing this forum. You can also watch painters on Twitch. Ask questions, start a WIP ( Work In Progress) when you paint something and people wil interact. Purple text here is a joke, so if you notice something in Purple it's not to be taken serious! The only thing that I think that has happened (looking at the overall shine and color coverage) is that the paint weren't shaken enough and were still in a state of quasi separation of pigment and medium. As Glitterwolf suggested, Youtube & Twitch are good starting points for learning, still a few blogs out there too, most important is to not sweat the little stuff & have fun. If you haven't come across it yet I highly recommend the Hobby Cheating series by Vince Venturella! I have assumed that the poster has used wife's gift exclusively 🙂 The Samurai below are a demonstration of this flaw of acrylics turned to advantage. The baldie has been painted with a near separated paint, taken non mixed from the dropper. The one with red shirt had a better shake and while still patchy, the color is richer. And to answer the question, NO, you do not have to wait 24hrs, you can apply it straight away if you wish, mix it in with the paint even. But really you should allow the layer of paint to dry to the touch, so depending on your environment conditions likely 5 min. I've been doing this hobby since the late seventies and still learning new tricks! Like everyone's said, YouTube vids, the forum are all great places to learn tricks and get tips.
