Your town now has a professional sports team for a sport no one in town plays, for some reason you have been put in charge of naming the team. What is the sport and what do you name the team.

I miss the Edmonton Trappers (they became the Edmonton Capitals, what an original name *rolls eyes*), and we've had the Edmonton Drillers, now effectively known as Edmonton FC (which would make sense in say Europe, but here everyone asks what FC stands for).

I'm not really into sports all, despite the city having several large, flashy lit places in town for such, like the new downtown hockey rink with a massive casino next to it.

But as for what sport, and what I'd call it, it would probably be the Edmonton Autocross Club or something - wait, what do you mean we already have three or four of those with similar names? :p

Already got one. The Sporting KC.  As you can tell by the evocative name it's a soccer team, with a multi-billion dollar stadium and fans numbering in the tens of dozens.

This area is crazy for every kind of sport! If you started a team for bobbing for french fries, it would take off!

... Why would ANYONE put me in charge of a sports team? And why would my dinky town even have an ice hockey team..?!

Oh well. So, ladies, how do you feel about being Dragons..? >.>

(did I not mention that I don't really DO sports? No? I don't really do sports, and I'm pretty sure this town already has a lacrosse team)

The name is The Fighting Flumphs, of course (3rd picture from the left). The sport is contact interpretive dance.

My town contains two major universities in close proximity. One competes in a famous (but no longer tp-tier) collegiate league which covers all major sports. The other is famous for having clubs for all manor of obscure passtimes.

I doubt there are many legal options uncovered. (Depending on whom you believe, many of the illegal ones may also be covered.)

Edit: Auto racing is covered, but only in one format. I suppose I could name a Touring, Rally or NASCAR style racing team. Hmmm...

Curling!  RTP White IC.

(It’s a cyberpunk joke.  IC, pronounced “ice”, stands for intrusion countermeasures.  IC are commonly grouped into three classes, white - monitors, alarms, etc., gray - things that attack you and slow you down or crash your deck, and black - things that can cause neurofeedback, resulting in physical damage or death.  Since curling is a civilized non-contact sport, white IC, it is.)

I live in Dallas/Fort Worth. This place is HUGE!! They probably have sports teams for sports I haven't even heard of.

Cricket would be the sport and we could be the Locusts.

People actually curl out here. Any Canadian prairie small town worth its salt has a train track and grain elevators at one end of town and a hockey arena or curling rink at the other end. The best "joke" of my entire urban planning course.

The best sports team name, bar none, belongs to the hockey team of the small town of Castor. The name? The Raiders. (Say it together now, everyone...)

You need to have a meeting with someone over zoom/skype/webex/facetime/whatever, do you care about having the cameras on?

Depends on the meeting and the setup.

If one user is doing a presentation, sharing their screen, then I prefer cameras OFF. If it's just chatting, cameras ON, just to show that you're at least a little bit invested. We even had HR at work remind us to turn our cameras on when dealing with customers.

When I'm chatting with family members, the camera is nearly always on.

At the same time, if the other users are on on their laptop or computer webcam, but on their smartphones, with the overly close and wobbly image, then I'd rather avoid the camera use.
