I mean, for 10 bucks it seems like a steal, but I'm dying to know - has anyone used the Reaper light box for photos?

I want to take better, consistent photos of my work and think this would help.  Small, lit, collapsible, and cheap.  Anyone got photos used from one?

I've got one, I'll set it up tomorrow and take some pics.

This was pretty easy to set up. It snaps together on the sides. There are 2 backdrops, one white and one black. They are made from some sort of thin foam. There is one light strip in the front on top across the width of the box. It uses a micro USB cord that connects to the light strip. The cord is a but short so I'd suggest getting a cheap longer one Frome somewhere else. I hooked in the black backdrop and snapped a few pics. These are taken with a Galaxy Note 10+.

@SparrowMarie and @crowsandbones do you find the one light it comes with sufficient for lighting, or do you use additional lights? I notice a bit of shadow lurking behind the mini in your pics, curious if you would recommend additional lighting from each side.

No extra lights. I would definitely recommend more lights for the sides. Though I may be biased since my other light box I have has a ring light instead of a strip.

So I've tried different lighting combinations with my light box, combined with automatic color corrections with GIMP.

No lighting aside from natural indoor daylight from the side (all pics have it):

Now with the LED strip:

LED strip, plus my two LED desk lamps shining from above the box. One slightly in front, one in the back:

Finally, just my LED desk lamps, without the LED strip:

YMMV, but the ones with the LED strip (#2 and #3) have the brightest highlights and deepest shadows.

I should probably repeat the experiment once the sun is down. But the end conclusion is that there are plenty of ways to adjust lighting to get the results you want.

PART 2, evening shots.

Did the experiment again after sundown with only the room's ambient lighting as the common feature:

Only the ambient lighting:

With the LED strip:

LED strip but desk lamps above the light box:

Now only the desk lamps above the light box:

Again, only the desk lamps, but the front one shining directly inside the light box:

I think my own favorites are those without the LED strip.

SUPER helpful!  Thank you to everyone.  @Cranky Dogsuper rad that you took the time to get multiple lights, times of day, and any factor i could imagine.  For 10 bucks, i think this could really help, especially with good the shots came out.  @SparrowMariethanks for taking the time, too as well as helping answer my question.  @crowsandbones thanks to you as well using different lighting.

I am going to get one!
