Base Boss Bases You'd Like to See

This thread is for new Base Boss bases you'd like to see in the future.  

 

Primarily the information should include:

 

- the dimensions desired (as mm or inches, since Reaper offers bases in both measurements)

- the rough shape of the base (oval, round, hex, etc)

- the type of edge (RPG base flat sided, bevelled, so on)

Clear 25mm / 40mm / 55mm rounds.  either flat or beveled.  

The Line of Fire bases that corvus belli is making with line of fire marks molded into the base are cool too, but i suspect they might have IP protection.  Regardless, they're REALLY specialized bases and aside from CB games may not have much appeal.

something like 74035 except in 20mm, 35 mm, 40mm, 50mm. flat top with as close to a right angle between the top and the sides as possible so it can be flipped over to inset integral bases without being obviously upside down.

 

a flight base that has a somewhat chunkier connection between the flight stem and the base, maybe something with a little sculping, a swoosh or a dust cloud or rocket blast something (the existing ones have a bad tendency to snap at that T)

I think I'd like to see some specialty bases - like the Treasure Hoard one. Beyond that, the ovals and the rounds with no lip.

Granted, you may have some specific need for 50mm vs 2 inches, but Reaper does already make that base, as a 2” RPG base. SKU 74036.

 

I fully agree on the 20mm base in that style. Currently they only offer one with an angled edge. I definitely want one with a flat, right angled edge. 
 

I wouldn’t mind them making a round 4” RPG base in the otherwise same specs as SKU 74035, but the existing round 100mm base with the lipped, angled edge works fine. 
 

What I’d REALLY love, is a round 6” RPG base (preferably right angled edge, like 74035).  D&D Colossal monsters are on 6” bases, and I can’t find anyone that makes a round, plastic, 6” base for anything approaching a reasonable price (basically just Litko acrylic discs).

I'd like to see Reaper make some bases similar to what Wizkids puts in with the Unpainted stuff. I like the flat base as it doesn't really add height to a mini with an existing sculpted base but I can clearly see it's a medium, large, etc etc. That & they (Wk) doesn't make a pack of small bases right now) +I know if these were offered I'd buy quite a bit during a Kickstarter.

 

Update the small base, instead of tapering to the top, just make a smaller version of the standard rpg medium base (1 inch). Tbh, I try to avoid the current Reaper small base if I can.

 

A flying base similar to what Litko has but I think Reaper could put their own flair to it. Have a flight indicator on that you can use dry or wet erase markers on it to indicate where the character is at.

I would like to see the following base stuff:

• Sculpted plastic bases in standard D&D sizes (1, 2, and 3”) with different themes, like cobblestones, flagstones, sand, underwater, rocky, wood floor, forest, etc.  Several different unique sculpts for each size would be great too
• Magnetizable RPG bases
• Status rings that could be used with RPG bases.  Maybe colored rings with the same diameter that the RPG bases stack onto
• Bits of plastic micro-terrain for basing:  stuff like bones, rocks, mushrooms, stalagmites, critters, branches, small plants, tree stumps, etc.
• Plinths for 28mm and larger display models, and for busts
• Plain diorama bases - nice-looking square rectangular, or round molded plastic bases to build up a diorama on

I'd love a 50mmx25mm oval base to be available, mainly because it fits the normal inch grid for rpgs and works for several wargames.

 

While not exactly a base thing, I'd also love to see some movement trays available for the main base sizes with wargames and/or display for rpg minis.

I brought this up once.  Their answer was something along the lines of “we support the gaming manufacturing community.  A lot of great companies are making sculpted bases, and doing it great.  They are cool people and friends and we don’t want to dip our toes into their pond.”

I agree with this.....clear bases, but add 30 and 32 mm sizes as well.

Also, if possible, bases that have a piece similar to a "plaque" where you can put the name of the figure (for bosses and special NPC's)

I echo others' sentiments about the smaller base offerings.

 

For smaller minis, you end up having to put them on an oversized 1in, or the beveled 20mm which ends up with less surface area on top for integrated bases.  I often have to chop the base to get it to fit within the smaller 18mm surface.  A true 20 mm in the style of 74035 would be really useful.

My base needs are often determined by the balance between using the integrated reaper bases, but wanting to adhere to official games sizes.  I am flexible, but it is a bummer when a wide stance pushes what should be a 25mm mini up to a 32 or 40.  I'd love to see an oval base 25x32 to accommodate wider minis without having to put them on a completely oversized base.

As far as the round bases, I'm content. I prefer the 74035(or 74040) style, but I'll work with whatever. Coming in from a heavier wargaming background, I'd like to see some square/ rectangle bases in plastic in certain sizes that are hard to find. All are in mm, and while most are available from other sellers, they are either MDF, or lower quality.

 

50x100, 60x100, 100x150, 50x75. 

 

I understand these are a bit on the unique side, so it makes sense if it can't be done. However, I'd be tickled if it were even 25x50mm with the sharp, straight edges, that I can glue together to get the larger base sizes (obviously not the 60x100).
