WEEKEND CHALLENGE July 9th / July 11th.

Share something you created/baked/cooked/painted/built/made this weekend.

This is a 4lb slab of beef brisket being seasoned. In a couple of hours it will go into the smoker.  It will slow cook all day over near a wood fire while I baste it with additional seasonings.

I have made nothing.

my only accomplishments involve being polite  to my wifes extended family.

and running regularly before he day reaches its 100 degree daily peak.

We had concreate reasons for staying here a week, but a shorter trip would suit me better.

Question July 8th.

Homeschooling/Working from home.

When the restricitions are lifted, do you plan to go back to work/school like before or do you have plans to ( partially) keep working/studying from home?

I hope to go back to the office part time.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE not having to commute but I miss talking to people face to face, going across the street to a pub to trouble shoot things (my management is pretty awesome!), keeping in touch with folks that I didn't work with closely but would bump in to...  Based on what we're hearing at this stage, sometime in the Winter folks will start moving back but 80% of workstations will no longer be assigned.

Need to get the kids back to school though.  My daughter is a social creature and she was running on fumes emotionally by the time things started opening up, and that was with us "bubbling" with a close friend of hers so they had some interaction outside.

Nothing fancy. Cooked some pork loins in the slow cooker.

The pork marinated overnight in soy sauce and balsamic vinegar. Then before noon, I added several sliced onions, a bit of water, turned the cooker on for the afternoon, then I went shopping and to the movies.

On my return, it was ready.

I assembled my Elegoo Neptune 2 3D printer, made several meals, though nothing special.

I made, or finished, a few things over the weekend. Pancakes for starters.

We also made a stew to feed us for the next couple of days with about a pound and a half of green beans from the garden and a couple of these little orange peppers I'm growing this year which I thought were going to be sweet but are actually hot. Very hot. Not quite panicky hot, but close. This was the base...

Then I finished making a little display base for mouslings.

I also finished the several week process of making a couple of beers. A kolsch and an IPA with German hops. No pictures of those though.

^Got the new desk more or less setup up...  We'll just ignore the clutter that's on the painting (left) side.  That will be dealt with sooner than later. ^_^ The nail dust fan thingy (hiding behind lamp on right side) is for sanding on top of.  It was picked up initially for dealing with resin kits, but works rather well for plastic sanding too, so it sees a decent amount of use.  It's currently topless because the cover was originally in this plasticky chrome, and so it's getting a proper treatment with Wicked Opaque Dioxazine Purple, but still needs a few coats before it's fully ready (at least one more of colour, and then 2-3 for clearcoat).

Mounted the shelf "today" (quotes used because it's now almost 02:00 Monday, and it went up on Sunday mid-afternoon), but haven't transferred paint racks over yet as I'll be putting a few L-braces underneath it for additional support.  Thanks to a stud finder, I'm fairly certain the screws went into studs, but it never hurts to add a bit more stability and security when it comes to shelves.

I'm going to be moving the workbench over probably 6-8" though, because I want it actually under the shelf.  It's bugging me that it's offset like that.  The 3/8" of height difference between the shelf and the Expedit cube shelf isn't bugging me anywhere near as much as it was before, and that's not just because I'd have to remove twelve screws to get it all off, move things down a bit, then redo it all, it's also because it isn't as noticeable unless you're actively looking for it.

^A decent idea of the kind of view you more or less have when sitting at the assembly (right) side, although camera's perspective is a tad lower than mine.  The two G-Temple runner holders aren't the best (there's better ones out there), but for what they do, and the price I paid for them, I'm definitely not going to complain.  They keep things tidy, and let me have things readily accessible, which is the main thing that counts!

^And the Real Grade Force Impulse Gundam I've ben working on the past few days.  Hip section is actually fully built and I'm onto the backpack now, but I don't have any pics of that at this time.

QUESTION JULY 12th.

What's you favorite piece of clothing?

That I still own and is usable?  Probably the tshirt I got from Nomad Complex a while back, featuring an African Wild Dog on it....  I also have a matching spring/fall hoodie with the same design.

Wild_Dog_Art_720x.jpg?v=1559959869

That I don't really have anymore?  My Tripp NYC's that were mostly black, but had a rather lovely hot neon pink acceent and straps.  I technically have pics, but since they're from a private party the pics I have aren't forum safe.  That and the friend who was taking the pics took them in between moves while I was doing jumpstyle, and they look insanely awkward.  Not "jumpstyling down the crosswalk lines in front of a police van" awkward, but still fairly up there.  Yes, that last sentence is something I wound up doing, both myself and the friend I was with at the time wondered how they didn't even wind up talking to me - I didn't even notice the van until I was halfway across said crosswalk, and at that point I was all "screw it, don't care, I'm having an awesome Friday night"

Man I loved those pants, I literally wore them until they wore out - numerous areas wound up just outright failing from being threadbare...  Plenty of good memories with those pants!
