I don't think I have one. If I happen to be channel surfing, I may stop and watch what's currently on. 7 hours ago, TGP said: QUESTION July 24th: Weekend Bake-Off and Sci-Fi Quests: Please bake something and post a picture of it, if you can? I have no means of cooking things other than to microwave them. I put this: “can you bake a cake in a microwave” to google. Amazingly, there were numerous entities out there in the internet that believed Yes I feel like rolling my save to disbelieve. I have done so-called Baked Potatoes in the microwave. But somehow I think “Bake” is a very specific method of heating a food Or an ingredient. A true baked potato has a crusty hard exterior? Quote Bonus Forum cred if you can make it look Sci-Fi themed! All of my available potatoes do look like mad science gone horribly wrong in the cargo hold of a flying saucer. I will not be posting a picture. 3

Bonus Forum cred if you can make it look Sci-Fi themed! Yesterday was a busy day. I bake bread most weekends, but this weekend it will be today. Since I’m just getting started, here’s a picture of my sourdough starter. Baking with starter rather than dry yeast is not hard, but is slow. It’ll be bed time before the loaf is done. It should end up looking like this one from 4 July: However, I have some spelt flour to use up, so today’s bread is 25% spelt/75% whole wheat. I think, from what I remember about the flour shortages last year, that the spelt may result in a lower rise. We’ll see… I suppose that it may resemble a flying saucer somewhat, from being baked in the casserole dish like that. 19 hours ago, SparrowMarie said: However, I'm much more of a winter games person. For the winter it is figure skating hands down. Figure skating, specifically ice dancing, is about the only Olympic sport I do at any level, so that’s naturally my favorite as well. 6

Same with a pressure cooker. They call them baked in their recipes, but it’s not dry enough. 5

TGP
11 minutes ago, Glitterwolf said: QUESTION July 26th. What is the strangest / coolest animal you have actually petted/held? It was Savannah, the Palomino. (I have not touched anything really exotic like Pacific Sea Otters; if you have not checked out the Otter channel on Twitch.tv …do; look for marinemammalrescue all one word) Back to Savannah. Half a lifetime ago the lead guy in my workgroup, a minor boss, invited everyone to his place for a cookout. His ‘place’ was a ranch, a small one: about a dozen head of Longhorn cattle and 4-5 horses. By day he was a cube-farm dweller, but in the evening he had critters to look after. His cubicle had pictures of all the horses. (Those pix were how I knew her name.) I arrived at the ranch. My Lead was at the gate, opened it to let my pickup in, waved me through, and then stayed to shut it behind me. Behind the gate there was a large fenced off, grass-free area big enough to park cars and the barn was located at the edge opposite the gate. I soon saw why my boss was re-closing the gate. Savannah was wandering around in this corral area too. When I got parked and stepped out of my truck, I looked up, and saw Savannah approaching being curious. So I said, “Hello Savannah !” (Like you do, in case the horse understands English…) She liked that I knew her name at least and came closer. Well I kept saying nice things in a friendly tone. And she walked right up to nose-to-nose distance. I noticed a thing about a horse face at this point, all the hairs on the face point away from the nostrils and toward the ears. It turns out horses like it if, when you pet their noses, you go with the direction of the hairs. This went on about a minute, me talking, her listening, getting her nose stroked and then I said, “I’m gonna go talk to the people now, but you can come with if ya wanna…” I took half a step. Clop. …she edged along with me. I took a whole step. Clop, clop, clop. She decided she was sticking with me. I put my left hand under her neck and rested the palm of my hand on her left cheek. I was walking on her right. Together, we moseyed toward the barn which was where everybody attending was gathered up. (This was on a legit actual ranch, so the word was mosey.) We got there. I said, “Hello everybody…” And they went from watching us and not saying nuthin’ to busting out laughing. I was reduced to asking the horse what was so funny? Savannah looked back at me with that “what do I know? I’m a horse” look. (Like they do, when they are most definitely not guilty.) And that just made the laughter louder and my lead’s wife was laughing the loudest. ~~~~~~~ Here is the rest of the story: My lead decided a good thirty minutes before I arrived that having the horse loose in the 75 yard wide corral where cars were being parked was a bad idea. Among other considerations he had to close and latch the gate after each car. So he had spent that time trying to get a lead rope on her neck, so she could be led off to a different pasture or maybe a stall in the barn. But! Savannah had been having Jolly Good Fun dodging the lasso, ducking away from her owner, and generally being a naughty mare, amusing the heck out of the crowd watching near the barn. Then, a city-slicker, cube dwelling, card carrying air-conditioning addict shows up …and goes all horse whisperer, no rope, no nothing… and leads the horse to the barn. They thought that was funny. 6 1
