I did have a friend with an aardvark, but I never got to see him. Pretty sure, back in the olden times when I was a wee lad and circuses still crossed the land dragging animals with them, that I had a ride on a young or pigmy elephant. My wife and I used to donate to our local zoo a lot, so we got a lot of back stage passes. Lots of lizards and snakes. I've held scorpions and spiders. I have ridden elephants and camels. I owned a soft-shelled turtle for awhile that I rescued from some very irresponsible college students. I shared my life with a peach-fronted conure for 26 years. I've raised chickens, geese, golden pheasants, and ring-necked pheasants. I once picked up a wild pin-tail drake. Strangest: Maybe a blind Great Blue Heron. It was strange because you don't expect an animal that big to weigh so little, or to scream when touched, or to try and impale you with it's beak while someone else administers shots. Coolest: Probably fox kits. Although it's less holding and petting and more like clamping the mouth shut and pinning it down while it tries to chew your fingers off during a medical exam. Opossums would be a good runner up for both of those categories. They're weird, but the one we had at the rehab clinic loved being held and carried around to look at the other animals. Sat on an Elephant's back and held a Lion Cub ( I learned that this it's better not to for the sake of the animals). We basically have two channels playing the content, but it's all repackaged in giant chunks. Like a 4 hour "show" with a dozen events, but it won't tell you when within those 4 hours your event will air. Last night we wanted to watch rugby, but the channel that had rugby in their "show" were on woman's skateboarding. And if I've ever seen any sport that's not Olympic-ready, it's women's skateboarding. Now, I was a skater in the 80s, and I knew a couple female skaters. This was before things like skate parks existed. The level of talent in our backyards was better than the 15 minutes or so of terrible skating I saw, one girl couldn't even land a simple rail grind. In the Olympics! But I digress. We've got the bike race on the DVR as kind of a post-script to the tour de france, which was pretty wild this year. The biggest hit at parties was the boa, she was around 12ft long. I saw three matches yesterday, including Lee Kiefer's gold medal win. Was in the morning though, so you have to know how to time it. NBC's coverage is lacking for most sports, even the popular ones. I was watching women's gymnastics last night, they started off showing all team members routines for two events then only showed half the members for the final two events. And no, it wasn't live, so it wasn't as if commercial breaks account for missed coverage. For the record, I am also firmly against the term "GOAT" to refer to any athlete. Time hasn't ended, so you can't be the greatest of all time, but you can be great or most dominant for your era. Well, I was going to say Kiwi bird (in New Zealand), but you specifically stated actually petted or held. I wasn't dumb enough to try and stop to pet or hold something that was charging at me (and chased me) - those beady murderous eyes sure said enough! I've probably held and petted a number of things when I was younger but I'll go with Slikk, a Boa of some sort.
