Popular Post odinsgrandson
Just a little while ago, CMON delivered their Marvel United game filled with wonderful super hero chibi minis. I’ve started painting them using a sort of comic book style (a lot of black outlines and some really neat stuff). Some of the minis take to this a little more than others, and I plan to keep experimenting with the style and find new ways to push the comic book style further. I’ll have a lot more to show off as I work my way through the whole set, but here is something to start with. Somehow, I chose mostly less saturated characters for this first group (which gives them a slightly more Darkest Dungeon vibe). For some of the others, I've started experimenting with some more dynamic lighting effects- I'll keep updating this post as I add more. Krassling
Reminds me of your aftermath works, which I absolutely admire. I call it children book style because it has some differences to the Common comic style with its more planar and with more black shadows. My daughters have some beautiful books very much like this. As usual your painting Level is exzellent. Some Day I will try to copy this style for the mouslings I wanna paint for my Kids.
Dan S
These are amazing, I especially like the wood texture on Groot, and the hair/fur on the Squirrel Girl (I've no idea who that even is, I recognise everyone else except her and the guy who looks The Thing).

odinsgrandson
I did some more- and I've been pushing for even more elements of comic book coloring with this set.

odinsgrandson
I pulled up some '90s art to figure out how to deal with the helmet shines in comic style. Edited December 3, 2021 by odinsgrandson
odinsgrandson
And here is Storm in her "they don't know if she's wearing black, white or silver so they made three different actions figures for her" outfit from the Jim Lee era.
