MaskedRiderChris
For those of you out there using oil paints on miniatures, I was wondering; will using white mineral spirits melt synthetic brushes made from, say, Taklon? I'm curious since I have a bunch of those brushes lying around and thought I'd put them to use with my soon to arrive oil paints.
Serenity
Synthetic brushes are not going to melt in OMS. I've thinned paints with OMS and cleaned brushes with OMS without any issues. If you are new to oils, Vince Venturella has a Youtube channel with good advice on them among many other topics.
MaskedRiderChris
Super! I can put those brushes to good use, now. Thank you! Edited July 15, 2021 by MaskedRiderChris
ultrasquid
Most synthetic brush hairs are made of nylon (polyamide); though it's usually labeled as a brand name like taklon or sabalene. Nylon is a very solvent-resistant material.
