August 13: Due to a software error in your favor, you suddenly get a free day of vacation that you didn't expect to have to take; what are you going to do with it?

(True Story: This just happened to me.)

Hobby stuff or watch shows on Netflix... While avoiding answering my phone.  I was told it was a day off, this means I'm off.

I'd always answer if it was the guy covering my route back when I had a job though, not because it was usually my boss but because I had also specifically said if they needed help, just give me a call.  For many years, nobody took me up on this offer, then my boss had to do my biggest customer, and got lost, which was an easy thing to do when you realize their building complex is two blocks by two blocks, and comprised of twelve sets of buildings.

He always apologized every time, but was incredibly thankful I could walk him through things, doubly so the university area where it literally is a labyrinth.

Right now?  Relax.  Maybe take a nap.  I haven't gotten enough sleep for weeks now.

Paint if I have the spoons.  My AC is losing against the heat (it's 97F outside).

Sleep in; wake up; make some coffee….

(When asked, “What did you do after you got the call that you’d won the Nobel Prize?” Jack Kilby replied, “Got up; made coffee…”

For those that don’t know, Jack Kilby is the Texas Instruments engineer that invented the integrated circuit.

The gadget you are reading this on does not exist without Jack Kilby. Now is a good time to say, or at least think, “Thank you Jack”.)

WWJKD …ftw

Sleep a bit more, do chores I would otherwise put off. Nothing exciting.

Pretty much that. ^^^

Happily, every day is now a vacation for me.

August 12: What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done, and why did you do it?

Helping free a red deer stag who had his antlers tangled in a football (soccer) goal net  The strength in those things is super scary. There was a few of us and even though he was pretty much exhausted we still felt like he was suddenly going to send us all skywards at any minute.

A close second was climbing the inaccessible pinnacle in the Cuillin mountains in Skye. That was mostly because I was young, stupid and wanted the bragging rights that came with conquering the "In Pin". I'll probably never do it again, mostly because nowadays I go up mountains to enjoy the experience, not to tick them off a list.

Depends on the weather- if it was our usual rubbish weather then I'd just take the opportunity to catch up on my painting. If it was nice them I'd get out to somewhere wild and take a wander with the camera to see if I can find anything interesting.

Weekend question, or did Friday the 13th nom our quisitor?  (or was the Friday one also weekend question?)

I was wondering the same thing.

Going with the Friday (13th) question being the weekend question for now.

Weekend Question
August 7-8:  Are you going to ReaperCon, and if so, are you ready?

I bought a ticket.

I had hoped to go.

That hope is fading away…….

Alternate Question: What are you working on now?  Post pictures, please!

I never responded to either of these questions. So in my case they can work for 14th-15th.

The last thing I applied paint to was the Maggot Crown Armour Golem. But I cannot spot him in the wreckage that is my desk. This is an olde picture of him. I guess what I am working on is hunting for him. :upside:

August 5: What’s your favorite quote from a TV show/movie/book?

"This is a day of days." - Lord Marshal of the Necromongers.
From the actor's delivery to the set lighting and sound mixing...everything about this line is indeed, flawless.
lordmarshallnecromongers.thumb.jpg.a249d1366787fee64eed88c7a34e1a70.jpg

and considering the current State of Affairs in the Gulf and across the oceans, it's also very apropos.
May Grace's deluge avail us.

I think I've answered a similar question before... though I might be able to add a bit more context...
Knowingly and willfully being indirectly arced by a bolt of lightning.
Why?  Because I chose to do so, in part to pay a debt owed, in part to see if it could be done. To feel that potential, to see the lightning flash in my eyes... I was shocked, to say the least.

If an involuntary event counts (?) that would be a spin out on an icy bridge in heavy fog. (The “why did you do it” part sorta implies something done intentionally so  )

I spun 270°.
Ended up crossways on a US Interstate in dense fog ready to be T-boned had there been any car following.

The Why: I was in college, had class that day, was trying to get to the campus. It was super cold. The road was passable, simply wet, but the fog was thick. Cold air below the bridge had helped freeze a glaze of ice on the road surface of the bridge. The fog hid it well.

August 16: What's your least favorite place in the world?

(Sorry about the lapse this weekend; life happened.)

Not a specific place, but an environment: Driving, with an expected time frame in which I want to reach my destination, and there's a sudden unexpected road block/traffic jam.

I'm not talking about regular rush hour traffic that you expect. But the kind that just appears after hours of driving, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, ruining any plans you had.

Right now, in this very moment, it’s my place of employment.

The laundromat on a hot day, when there’s lots of people there is a very close second.
