I would like to join! 🙂

QUESTION:  Is 3D printed stuff accepted?  Not everyone has an access to a 3D printer.  I believe, I can throw in a few cool 3D printed things.  Of course, all the copyrights/licenses will be respected.

Location:  Northern Illinois

International shipping:  Would prefer not to, but will do if absolutely need to.

Box starting:  No.  First time doing this, would like to see an actual box first.  Next time around - very very possible 🙂

Cheers!

~Z

3D prints are allowed and have shown up in boxes before 🙂

I've never looked at this board before, and I didn't realize the Box of Goodwill was a thing - it sounds like a lot of fun!  (I also didn't quite realize how many of you were so close by!)

I think I'll give it a stab!  I'm in.

Location:  Charleston, West Virginia USA

Willing to ship only in the USA, for now.

I'm interested in starting a box, and I'm happy to work with new members!

Texas!

I currently cannot ship internationally,

I would love to be a box starter!

I still have half of the contents of the previous box that came my way.

It was a large that we agreed I separate into 2 mediums to keep costs down.

I also intend to bring it to ReaperCon again.

Only. Y'all. This time I need y'all to TAKE STUFF OUT. Last time, I came home with MORE than what I started!!

Do we have to use USPS to ship?

I know that the flat rate box is best for most but, I'm just curious if it's the hard and fast rule.

I'm pretty sure the flat-rate box (the actual box) cannot be used for (shipping) purposes other than through the USPS - I once tried to use one to ship something through my UPS store (only because I had it with me, and wanted to see if they could), and they told me the only way I would be able to do that is taking it apart, inverting it, and putting it back together inside out, so they couldn't see the USPS branding/labeling...

... I took it to the main post office a few miles down the road.

Hadn't considered that. Thank you

The medium flat rate box includes insurance and tracking.  The flat rate box is beneficial when sending a box of metal or heavy objects, if you send it another method you may end up paying a lot more and paying extra for insurance.

Using the medium box sets a limit on volume.  The boxes have a tendency to put on weight as they go through the circuit, which could mean increased costs for folks down the line.  Right now it's around $17 to mail it, that's a known cost.  Even if you use a different box and don't mind paying extra, you may inadvertently stick someone else with higher fees that they weren't expecting.

The Flat Rate boxes are usually easy to get and free of cost.  It prevents delays as people try to find new boxes when the older ones wear out.
