kristof65
Wow. Just wow. I haven't been this thrilled with a box since my first round. My picks aren't all that exciting, but it's stuff I'll use (eventually). This first item, a CAV Dragonfly, is what I got most excited about, because I played my first game of CAV:SO last night. I was only able to add half of what I had intended to.
Rat13
Went through the box and ended up pulling a pretty eclectic group. My wife and I are certainly excited for the two chibi kobolds. Having played multiple kobolds I know how much fun they are so when I find unique sculpts it's a no brainer. That's right I pulled a couple skeletons again. Though I know I probably have enough skeletons they're much like kobolds to me, so if I come across an interesting sculpt I'm going to pick it up. Lastly I picked up a couple Genestealers and bits. Before I even completed my Imperial Guard army I was already thinking of a second. Conveniently the only other army that interested me were the Genestealer Cult. So before I even got started I've got a ton of proxy models, but it's nice to actually start the next collection proper. This may not have been my biggest pull but it was a good one nonetheless.

Most of the minis - such as the ones you've got there - make great cultist type characters! The blue ones would also make great ghosts. Not sure what else is in that picture (war elephants, maybe?) All around, it looks like a great haul! Maybe not "exciting", but those are exactly the sort of minis that would thrill me, too - good, reliable, multi-use gaming stuff that earns its keep over and over! :)

Rat13 is right, those other things are the GW 2 part horses.
haldir
It's funny to see the Reaper archway piece in almost every picture. ha ha. I got my 1st one with my October 1st order last month. It's an ok piece, it suffers a tad bit of bending issues but that is common in a piece like that.

Yes, I suspect like many promo pieces this is its fate.

The bag looked familiar, which is why I asked. Got bummed because the next couple of folks after me never said anything about what they took so that kinda blew my enthusiasm. Felt like I'd just thrown stuff into a black hole. Anyway, nice to see some of it finally getting chosen.

I'm not really quite sure I understand Reaper's logic with those promo pieces: they are handed out in bulk, but aren't really the sorts of things that are typically useful in bulk, so I guess they're designed to be the gifts-that-keep-on-giving, to encourage us to give them away to someone else and (hopefully) get them hooked on the miniature hobbies. Whatever the case, I'm looking right at a promo arch of my own sitting on a shelf, wondering what I'm going to do with it - if there isn't one in my BoGW when it finally gets here, I'll probably be adding it (if it will fit!) I've already got a handful from some project I started a couple years ago, but never got around to finishing, so I can't really justify sitting on another, unless I think of a good use for multiple arches! Come to think of it, though, it does look like a nice, dramatic replacement display base for a gothic horror themed-mini or diorama, and I guess that's what it was designed for, now that I think of it. EDIT: idea for a new thread: 101 uses for a promotional Gothic archway! Use #03: Dramatic replacement base for your Reaper Sofie in vampire costume. Use #07: Upgrade for your HeroQuest boardgame's cardboard staircase tile. Use #12: Wedge it underneath the short leg of your unstable, wobbly painting table. Use #32: "Paint bottle Throne" to display your rare bottle of Reaper Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon Pink. I put several in my box because I had an opportunity to get them at the con and thought I'd share. At the time I had no idea it was going to be a Halloween promo. This is the first time I can think of that a terrain piece has been a promo item. If you don't play with terrain I can see how it wouldn't be very useful except as a display piece. As for the free figures, not everyone can place an order every month to get one, so I think it's great that folks who have extra are sharing them. And if you do have multiples of the same character a different paint job can completely change the feel of the figure. There are some I've painted 2-3 times for variety. I don't think Reaper expected that people would be placing multiple orders to intentionally get duplicates, but Reaper fans are a wacky bunch. 5

There are some I've painted 2-3 times for variety. A simple weapon-swap can go a long way, too (plugging those hard-plastic wargame miniature bits again!) Even in the world of gaming terrain, that arch is an odd duck - I'd never thought of it until now, but going with HeroQuest as the original template for gaming terrain, that arch doesn't really have a precise counterpart, unless you count doors (and HeroQuest doors are a totally different animal!), or the staricase tile to mark the dungeon's exit (which the arch would actually work really well for!) I mean, it's otherwise not the sort of thing that blocks line-of-sight, or the sort of thing that represents an obstacle, or game objective.... That's not a bad thing, really, I for one like stuff that does something a little different - and for diorama builders and those who do decorative bases, it's an especially good piece! Still, I'm not surprised that spare arches are making their way around the Good Will boxes, nor am I surprised that they are finding a home with those who don't already have a couple in their pile-of-shame. And it won't stop me from having a bit of "101 uses" fun with it :)
