Darcstaar vs. Bones I: Ep. 16 Goblins

Recommended Posts

Taking a hiatus on the Mocking Beast.

Trying to gain some victory in numbers on my Bonesium Horde.  I have completed the beetle swarms, spider swarms, and skeletons without WIP.

I’m going to do the goblins now.  I plan two batches: one yellow/ochre, and the other tangerine.  Some nice “non-Greenskins.”

Several of these required boiling.  Some are still leaning.  The spears are straighter.  One of these was the beneficiary of a weapon swap.  I had given Danar, Male Assassin 77030 his shield for a spiked shield.  In return, we have a dual wielding goblin!

Always easier to see details after priming with Brown Liner.

My straightening technique for smaller figures, by the way:  put them in a microwave safe mug covered in water, heat for 3 minutes.  Pull them out one by one with tweezers.  Straighten the bent parts by hand.  Dunk them into ice water.  Check the result.  Let them sit in ice water until everyone is done.  If results are acceptable, toss them in the freezer for at least an hour.

I seem to get less “Re-bend” after the sub-zero punishment.

These were some of the floppiest hardest minis I painted. Just didn't want to take paint well. At least now I'd have an idea of how to deal with it. I only did my pathfinder goblins green. I think my current goblinoid horde is about 50-60(also about 30+ orcs and 30+ kobolds). I approve of your decisions

These guys the Pathfinder ones and some other Reaper goblins are what got be back into minis and wargaming.  I quite enjoyed painting them after the first Kickstarter.  Maybe it was just because they weren't the old GW orc boys and gobbos.

Thanks!

A little progress.  Finished the metallic steel.  Blackened Steel, Tarnished Steel, then Scale Color Heavy Metal.  These guys have the dual-wield “leader,” so they can keep bright weapons and armor.  I plan to rust/weather the metal for the other 9.
