Very similar experience here: Being taken to meet the local bank manager and open my own account Made me feel I was crossing that nebulous barrier into adulthood.

 

But I'm not sure that "grown up" is the same as mature. I suddenly realised that I was mature when people started asking my professional advice. And they didn't just listen, they started taking notes...

Still don't feel like one. Very few accomplishments that have held up over the years that could go into that column. Someday, mayhaps, a few might come my way.

It's more a part time thing...

There are times I feel like an adult when people ask my advice, when I give orders to people at the Base, when I pay bills, drive a car etc etc.

And then there are the times where I feel like a kid again, when I paint/print and play around with my minis, when I paly a videogame, listen to music, watch a cool movie etc.

 

I can't recall the first time, maybe when someone started adressing me as hey Mister....Who me???

Bringing my baby home from the hospital was a big moment. I was internally freaking out because I had to take this tiny thing home and keep it alive and THE NURSES WERENT GOING TO COME HELP ME 🤣

I think when I had to come home from college because my Dad was sick and I had to shoulder the bills.

I think my drill instructor might have informed of that fact at the top of his lungs, approximately 6 inches from my face, with a surprising amount of creatively used profanity.

Probably the one that was sent to me for an exchange.  It's gorgeous, and treasured.

I got a job on the other end of town, that's kind of new for me (I usually try to have work relatively close).  If that doesn't count, uhm....  We did some other things with our Mac and cheese?

Having done ninja excursions to ikea many times, I know this to be doable.  Nowhere near as fun as doing the full walk through and "magically" coming home with a few extra things though...

Uhhh... We're supposed to grow up?  Didn't get that memo.  Ignore the suspicious pile of ashes for a recently used fire pit.... 

 

I haven't really had any particular moments that stand out as such.  Kind of had adult responsibilities placed upon me at age 9 due to dad being on Air Force tours, although thanks to a hospital trip (and almost losing the functionality of my right thumb) my parents never did make me do dishes as a kid...

I've got more years behind me than before me, and I don't particularly feel like an adult on any given day. I'm mostly just stumbling along faking it as best I can and hoping for the best outcome.

Someone's watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure recently, haven't they? 😉

 

Hannibal of Carthage, and we'll likely play a tabletop wargame. I want to see for myself how his military genius plays out in a non-lethal scenario. We might also play laser-tag or paintball, to see if he can adapt to modern warfare.

 

Can I please have a time-traveling phone booth to collect more historical figures?

When I stopped making excuses and procrastinating and just pulled up my boots and took care of my responsibilities. Life's not easy, but it's a lot harder when you refuse to take on your personal, professional, and civic responsibilities. 

At the same time, I'm quite proud of the fact that I managed to keep most of the fun activities I loved as a kid (minis/guitar/art/games). You can be childlike without being childish.

The Great Peacemaker of the Haudenosaunee. I'm fascinated by the great stunted democracy of the New World that was not rooted in Greek tradition. We would just smoke the peace pipe and talk about life.

While he was not a famous historical figure, it would be my Swiss grandfather. My mom and aunt (his daughters) never told us he and his buddies used to run weaponry across the Alps and Lake Geneva to the French Resistance during WWII until well after both he and my Swiss grandmother were gone. Apparently they were chased on several occasions by the Gebirgsjaeger (German alpine troops) on a couple occasions to boot! I would love to hang out at a cafe with a couple beers and find out more.
