Reapercon 2022 excitement thread!

Unfortunately, I won't be anywhere near where I could attend...

 

But ReaperCon (and Reaper in general) did get a recent shoutout on the Expanded Perspectives podcast, one that came out about a month ago (The Haunted Highways episode), but I haven't had much time recently to listen to episodes until today. They're getting into tabletop in addition to everything else they've been going with...the podcast is more paranormal, but it's fun.

Ast Mgr asked me on Sunday about my upcoming vacation requests, as I have a week next month & in July. She also asked if I was still wanting Labor day weekend off. I told "Yup!" So, I'm pretty sure that means I'll definitely be at the Con this year. She is the one that told me to put it down, despite the weekend & a few days before being blocked off for requests.

 

So looking forward to this one. Hopefully, with the C-virus not as prevalent as before, we can return to a normal Con this time around.

Work will have me travelling the month prior, to include the first 2 days of the con. I have airline reservations to arrive at DFW late-ish on Friday.  But with the work travel, I need to have my entry DONE by mid-July.  I won't be able to wait until August for a final push and then do touch-ups in the hotel room like last time!  Lack of a procrastination buffer is killing me! 🙂

So, I might be able to go this year; it'd be my first time. 

 

A friend of mine has told a lot about it, so I'm looking forward to it. I've got a question about the metal trade in though: I've got a fairly good idea of how it works thanks to my friend, but I've seen it mentioned that it's not happening this year, other places say it is. 

 

So, is it happening this year?

I heard something about this last year, but was waiting for actual official word from Reaper about it. I for one, hope they don't stop doing it. The "Table of Tetanus" is a fun unique feature of ReaperCon & yes it has been a sham of what it use to be, it's still a fun feature to have. It allow people to go through the table, find something that someone didn't want. It also is great for socializing with fellow Con-goers.

 

My question about this, what about people with melt trade-in credit if the table is discontinued. How is that gonna be handled?

The rumor last year was that they were thinking of changing it and trying to come up with a way to allow Bones trades. Whether that happened or not, what they came up with I couldn't tell you.  Best to wait until closer to the con and get official word on whatever is going on this year.  I wouldn't be surprised if the table went away because it is a giant PITA for Reaper now the con is not in the factory.  Wouldn't worry much about credits, Reaper has always been generous with those.

Oh, it ain't so. You did ask me to say it. Me saying it won't make it true or false so it was a bit of a weird request really.

 

But still since this is still just speculation it seems, cross yer webbed feetsies and paint yer entry up. I'm in full defeat mode already. Was going to have 8 months to paint the glorious, wonderful diorama I have planned. Down to three months (more or less) and haven't even primed the first figure, and still have the "victim" to modify. Work and personal life taking away from hobby life again. Think I'm going to have to delay that one a year (again) and focus on a cool Open idea I had.

Don't you normally start a mini on the roadtrip down & finish it in the hotel room, or is that someone else I'm thinking of?

 

Currently gathering the last minis for my games right now. Since, I have large batches for some figures, I'm going the colored primer route this time for them, so those supplies were also ordered.

 

As I thought I was having some major issues with my 3d printer, I thought I was going to have to send the remaining files out for someone to print up. Hopefully, I fixed the problem yesterday, If anything, I'm going to print the more important stuff & if I do need to send them, I can do that or just try & replace them with regular physical miniatures. Looking forward to the Con! (+ the 2 weeks + 1 day, I have off in the next 2 months thou!)

Actually is there any new news regarding ReaperCon? Seems like after the hotel reservation opened up & then admission tickets (still need mine!!), it's be silence, unless news has been posted to places I don't frequent that much.

Believe you’re thinking of @Ludo, although I did paint a Con figure after I arrived last year because I hadn’t had anything at the ready.

The giant table always seemed cumbersome, I wonder if a pair of smaller tables (but same net area) would make the physical aspects  of it easier.

I've been seeing comments here and there about getting teachers and classes lined up, so I think that's where they are right now.  No word on any date when a schedule might go up for planning purposes.  Hopefully we hear something "soon".
