I've been seeing comments here and there about getting teachers and classes lined up, so I think that's where they are right now.

I can second this, I received the email with a request for class submissions not quite 2 weeks ago. 🙂

I'll be doing my colored metallics class and my beginner's guide to metallics for sure; I'm still on the fence about my "fun with shiny paints" class. Perhaps I need to refine the description, but every year I get a few folks who are either too new or too experienced to benefit from it. The other two seem to be pretty solid, though.

EDIT: I decided to offer to teach my colored metallics 3 times, and my beginner's class 2 times (I can't actually say I'm teaching them until Reaper gives me confirmation 🙂 ). I might decide to do Fun with Shiny Paint next year, I'll see how this year goes with just these two.

Huzzah!

Yeah i think the next big main thing that the team is getting together is the initial class lists. 🙂 So i think that would be the next big thing to come out. (it could be swag bags as well but Im just waiting for that to announce ETC)

I can leave you with a sneak peek of something im working on for the con though!

My first time getting to the Con, and VERY excited!

couple of quick questions;

How quickly do the classes fill up when they go on sale?

Are you able to purchase someone ease's ticket if they can't make it?

or are there last minute openings available if people don't show?

(and how would that work if it is possible)

Chris

I'd love to sit in classes all day!  🙂

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that last year I was able to buy class tickets for my husband. It was my first con, so I'm no pro, but I think I remember doing that.

Some classes fill immediately.  Others will have open seats on the day of class.

There has been, in the past, a waiting list in case of no-shows or cancellations. You can get details at Registration.

You must have a class ticket to sit in a class.  There has been some confusion in the past with people who thought they could just walk into the middle of any class that seemed interesting.

Classes can be mentally draining, and leave you with no time to enjoy the rest of the show.  Veteran attendees will tell you to pace yourself, and take 1-2 classes per day.  If you find yourself brain-dead or hung over on Saturday morning, please let Registration know you won't be taking your classes.

How many classes do y'all think might be too many classes to take? I'm still a beginner painter, so I'm trying to figure out which classes are best for beginners, and I don't want to take too many classes that I feel overwhelmed miss out, but I also don't want to miss out on any classes that would be helpful!!

I know this isn't set, and these are just hopeful depending on if there will even be availability, but right now I have 4 classes on Thursday, 3 on Friday, and 1 on Saturday. Oh wait, Airbrush 101 is also on Sunday, so I could just do 3 Friday and 1 Sunday.

What classes or Instructors do you recommend for beginners?

As @Inarah said I would HIGHLY recommend no more than 1-2 a day and probably no more than 4-6 for the whole weekend.  And try to avoid putting classes back to back, that's a very quick way to kick yourself into brain numb territory and not retain anything.

if you're taking 4 in one day, unless you're an exceptionally gifted student, you won't be retaining anything by the end of the day.  Save some time for Hobby Hijinx or practice.  -To whit, maybe plan to buy a bones figure after class that is similar but different to the one you just painted in class, grab a table, and give the technique another go on a different figure, maybe with different paint colors.  If you're struggling still, your instructor is likely to be around sometime during the con so you can hit them up with questions,

That being said, I have one reccomendation for you.  Elizabeth Beckley, Brice Cocanour, and Tish Wolter all have blending classes available that should be very beginner friendly, and they're all three excellent instructors. Good blending is a big foundational skill.

Ugh.  The filters aren't working yet, so I can't narrow the classes down by the topics or instructors I am most interested in.

My husband was thinking of running a couple of D&D games. Where does he need to go to sign up for that? I haven't been able to find anything. Also, any chance people would like a vendor that sells Freeze Dried food that is incredibly delicious and good for food storage and every day use and snacking? I know it doesn't have much to do with minis and painting and gaming, but everyone needs food, right? HAHA.
