I keep thinking, as I'm leading into Inktober, 'do something suitable for a Yule Card!' .. and then there are cacti, and dead trees, hands sticking out of ice, grumpy bugbears (bugbeards?! .. Issat like a beard mimic?), and who knows what else. Oh well.

And it's about time to design and print my yule cards this year, too.

 ... Yes, damnit, I used reference material for this. Real animals usually are the better for it.

Watercolour, because honestly, I don't have enough shades of brown and grey for a good wolf. Or, perhaps more accurately, I don't have anything I can fake it with as effectively as I can with watercolour. 😜

If you /can/ imagine a high-powered archmage being offered pretend tea by a child in the absolute fluffiest possible dress, please, feel free. It's probably happened a few times, and is likely the highlight of the day when it does.

Getting that cloak to blend like that bled the ink right through the paper. 

That said.. guess which artist has two thumbs and ordered more markers?

 

 

So, that was Inktober. I got almost no minis painted this month, and I am now going to speedpaint the hell out of Fillyjonk. AFTER I carve some gourds. Whee!

I got no minis painted either.

I've started drawing again but I'm not this kind of artist, that can just pump out daily work. For example, the piece I'm working on I started on June 1. :)

After doing it .. um. Three years in a row, best advice I've got is, 'go for it, and if you don't manage something every day, that's okay too'. 

I'm certainly not going to point fingers at anyone who can't manage a drawing a day. ^^; 

 

If you participated; well done! 

And if you took my slapdash 'all the prompts are valid' method, with whatever media seemed more effective... also well done!

 

Remember... the rules are really only guidelines. ^.~

I was eager to do it, but... life happened.

 

Last year I was unemployed during the same time, now I work full time, and I have a very hard time committing my brain to do art without getting distracted by everything. Also, the old tablet app I used wasn't supported anymore, so I tried Krita as an open-source alternative. And then I was stuck in the learning curve.

 

Add in the few times I had to go out of town for extended periods, yaddah, yaddah.

 

I also remember from last year that I decided to use two prompt lists at the same time. And my imagination got stuck.

 

So all in all, I have one drawing.
