Jamie
Can anybody recommend a good paint shaker/mixer compatible with Reaper and similarly packaged paints? Thanks in advance!
Fruggs
Typhoon Paint Mixers are the Best If you don't want to spring for a typhoon one, you can search on amazon for nail polish shakers, or vortex mixers. Old blood lab mixers if you can find them at like a surplus sale are good too.
Serenity
I have a Lab Genius (from Amazon) that works well. I imagine a lab-grade mixer like the Typhoon would be better, but I wanted something smaller. If the Lab Genius fails me, I may have to reconsider. Before the vortex mixer, I used a drill modified to hold a bottle of paint. That worked just as well on Reaper paint, but was not as convenient to use.
strawhat
I love my Typhoon. They are big, and HEAVY, though.
MojoBob
I use a very cheap jigsaw with a modified blade to mount the paints on to. It works very well, the only real issue being that it's quite noisy compared with something like a vortex mixer. On the plus side, it only cost me about twenty bucks. More details here: http://mojobob.blogspot.com/2018/03/jigsaw-paint-shaker.html In retrospect, having the cradle capable of holding two bottles at once hasn't been all that useful. Also, if I was doing it again, I'd design a cradle capable of taking different sizes of bottle — I don't know off the top of my head how I'd do that, but I'm sure it could be done. Samedi
Got the 4E's mini vortex mixer. Very small, very heavy, has yet to fail me. Best addition to my hobby so far.
ManvsMini
Here's a thread/discussion from earlier this year on vortex mixers and people's experiences/input. https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/94572-vortex-mixers-how-fast-how-furious/ I would recommend going with a vortex mixer instead of a shaker. The shakers seem to have a higher breakage rate than a vortex mixer.
haldir
Like other have said Vortex mixer is awesome + the owner of Typhoon Painting, Robert Kennedy is one awesome dude!! Just look up the name of his company for details on his mixers (& paint racks!!) I did see one from Dispae that look interesting. You stick a metal rod (included, I'm sure something metal would work) inside the paint bottle & then set it on top & the base moves it around, shaking up the paint.

Normally in the lab we would use a PTFE coated magnetic stir bar. You won't have to worry about it reacting with the paint, but OTOH if you have 400 bottle of paint it's going to add up to some $$.
