Inarah's Minivember 2021

The challenge is 30 minis in 30 days (not necessarily 1 mini each day.) I've been prepping a few figures each week since August, and this year's theme is Science Fiction:

Team Terminator:

XairBot (Small) 49012
XairBot (Medium) 49013

CyberReavers I (2) 50354
CyberReavers II (2) 50355
CyberReaver 845

Enforcer 847

Team Survivor:

HESCO barriers (2)

Starship Generator 80053

Tess, Adventuring Heroine 49020

Slade, Cyborg Hero 49018
Nova Corp:Female 80013

Nova Corp:Soldier 80012

Gothic Tank Traps/objective markers (2)

3d printed scatter terrain

Crates (Large and Small)(2) 77248

Jersey Barriers (2)

More Stuff:

IMEF: Reggie Van Zandt 80017

Viceroy Enforcers (3) 30029

Starship Generator 80053 #2

Obligatory Fantasy:

Dreadmere wight 44022

Benedict Baker

dark elf w/bow 1128

Liriel Silverlocks 2458

DGS games female

Not shown: Blood Nebula Mercenary 49017, Power Generator 72611 (2)-- still in blister packs.

That gets me to 30-ish, depending on whether I count things like the barriers and crates as single pieces or not.  Still working on getting the last few pieces washed and primed and identified.

Can't wait to see this!

Thanks!  This week I've been slowly working on getting all the figures identified, based, and mold lines scraped off.  There's a small terrain piece I want to do, but it got packed up last year when we remodeled, and of course now I cannot find it.  I'm sure it'll show up in 3 months when I'm searching for something else.

Day 1.  Starting with these 4 Cyber Reavers from B5.  Haven't quite decided on colors. I tried one with a black wash, and one with white Citadel contrast paint and it was pretty clear to me it wasn't going to be enough contrast.  I like the idea of white robots, but I don't have the time or desire to line all th details by hand. So they all got painted black.

I also put sand on the bases, both for interest and weight.  I have a variety of metallic paints, I'm considering whether they should all be the same color, same color family, or a variety of colors.

And since I need to do more than 4 minis this week I randomly grabbed one of the others.... a dark elf with a bow.  I will start blocking in base colors on her tomorrow.

Day 2.  This evening I painted the sand on the 4 Reaver bases, and while that dried started putting paint on the dark elf. Will have to come back to her when I figure out what paints I used on the previous lot.   Picked up Liriel Silverlocks, a great 90's piece by Sandra Garrity.  I have had this figure forever.  Decided to do her in a fall theme, Pumpkin Spice Liriel.  No pics tonight.

Day 3.  Last night I pulled out the Nightshade Purple, Carnival Purple, and Ritterlich Blue that I used for my dark elves in the past.  Started applying that to the dark elf, and since I had the sea hag on the table and she looks better as an elf, started a bonus figure.  Ritterlich is the base color I use on my "space police", they got a quick coat.

Tried some metalics on the Cyber Reavers.  Not happy with the outcome.  Plain silver doesn't look that great either.  Will try somemore ideas tonight.

Day 4: Played around with the metalic paint a bit more.  Went and looked at the TurboDork tutorials.  I did not know there was a difference between the metalic and the colorshift lines.  Read the instructions. Yeah, who'd have thought. The brighter colors look better, so I experimented with a few.  They're starting to look more robot-y.

Pulled out 4 more pieces to slap some paint on. At this point just trying to get base coats down and will worry about details later.  I received this wight minus a hand, so he had been grafted one with a dagger out of the bits box.  He's got a bit of undead flesh as a base coat.  Meanwhile Benedict Baker gets a fancy blue velvet coat. I envision him as a somewhat eccentric old professor who's forgotten where he parked...

Dark elf chick got a bit of metal on her armor, not sure if I like it.  I also base coated the two jersey barriers, which really wanted to suck up the paint for some reason.   A lot got accomplished, though nothing is coming together quite yet.

Day 5: Today went fast.  I squeezed in an hour this evening.  Added more color to these three, mostly working with what is on my wet palette, a lot of orange and browns, and the Ritterlich Blue:

Messy drybrush on these three. Will be followed with a dark wash once it is thoroughly dry. Like tomorrow.

Thanks for the comments.

Well, life happened and I did not get as much painting done as I'd hoped. Today I put the dark wash on the soldiers, and futzed around with the others, touching up spots or painting bases.   Decided against the blue armor on the dark elf, too much color.  Going to change it silver like the others.

On request from our GM, I'm prepping and painting two more orcs for next weekend's game, and probably a tree man, too. I got some terrain spray primed.  Trying to use the warm weather to get a head start on winter hobby time.

It has been a dark time for the Galactic Empire.
Strong meta for the other factions have lead to few victories,
and the faith of many Imperial commanders had been tested.
But now, when all seemed lost, and new RRG has emerged.
      Unit costs have decreased.
Changes have breathed new life into nearly abandoned Imperial troops.
And leading the way, mighty Lord Vader's Sith training has made him even more powerful and devastating.
Now is the time, for the Empire to strike back!!
So, a new year, and a new Star Wars Legion painting WIP.
Last year started strong but then I almost completely stopped painting for quite a while. Instead I focused on getting a bunch of units assembled, as I was playing fairly regularly. My back going to crap probably had some impact on my painting too, all those meds aren't helping with my focus or energy levels.
Regardless, I've finally felt like painting again the last week or so.  So I'm going to go with it and hope to settle in to a schedule where I'm getting a few hours of painting in a week.
My goals for this year are to get back to painting Empire forces, but also to finish up painting my CIS army.
For the CIS I still have to paint two more units of B1s, and base them and the 2 units I've just finished up in the old WIP.
Then there are 3 units of STAPs, 3 units of Droidekas. 3 Spider Droids.  3 boxes of Magnaguards.  3 boxes of Bx commandos.  A bunch of commanders and specialists.  Oh, and 2 snail tanks, and two AATs.......so a bit...also 1 more unit of B2s if they ever come in.
But, as soon as I get through the 2 units of B1s (they take up too much room on my desk to work on anything else at the same time) I'll start moving in some Imperial units to mix it up.  And get back to painting white......

      Reaper Challenge League 2022
      1) Intro
      2) How It Works
      3) Types of Challenges
      4) The Raffle

                         PDF Check List               Discord
Welcome to the Reaper Challenge League (RCL), a system that rewards fans for completing community-based events and challenges. This will all be conducted via the Reaper Miniatures Discord, where there is a system in place to track points and administer raffles easily (see below).

THIS IS NOT A CONTEST ----- This is meant to be a challenge against yourself to see what you can accomplish, not a contest to compete in against other people in the community. So enjoy your time in creating stuff and have fun doing it with everyone else!

Only Reaper minis will be accepted except for in the Freebie/Bust categories. You can use any paints for submissions, the only exception is the Limited Palette challenge.

      How It Works:
Users can submit photos of RCL projects on the #submissions area on Discord and receive points depending on the tier of challenge.
These points can then in turn be used to purchase raffle tickets which will be drawn quarterly, with a large annual raffle at the end of the year. Only Reaper minis will be accepted for submissions, except for in the Freebie/Bust categories. You can use any paints for submissions, the only exception is the Limited Palette challenge. Each quarter, a RCL raffle shall be held during the last seven days. This ensures that people have ample time to enter tickets or finish any entries so your points may be exchanged into tickets. On the last day of the quarter, the raffle will be drawn, and winners posted. At the end of the year a larger raffle will occur that accounts all accrued points points you have earned yearly (spent and unspent).  Terms and Conditions may change at the discretion of Reaper Miniatures at any time.

      Type of Challenges:
All entries must show some sign of trying and not just throwing paint on to get some quick points. In keeping of the spirit of the league, challenge yourself and see what you and others are capable of. The amount of points that each one challenge will grant are in the () below, as well on the PDF for the 2021 chart. Reaper Challenge League PDF

      The Raffle:
The raffle will happen the last 7 days of each quarter, This will ensure that people have ample time to enter their tickets or finish any entries they need to complete before drawings. Tickets will be pulled on the last day of each quarter!
This will all be done on the Discord server, as we have a bot that is programmed to keep track of members points and how many tickets they have. We will use this bot to open the drawing and for you to enter and participate with the system. The drawing will stay open for one week before doing the drawing on the last day at a set time!

      Thank you, the team!

      Frequently asked questions
Q: I am just wondering if one model can be turned in for two different categories?
A: In the spirit of the challenge, we would like it if you submitted a different model for another challenge. As this isn't a contest and meant to get people hobbying. 🙂 so you would just be doing yourself a dissatisfaction!!!!!
Q:  Since the Reaper Discord moves so insanely fast, how will winners be notified?
A:There will be a channel that is static that is read only, for raffle winner and other announcements.
Q: Will the raffle draws be things that can survive through colder climates when shipped?
A: Not to sure on the exact prizes but this ties into your third question, I can hold things for you if cold climate is an issue and ship it at an opportune time.
Q: For the Quarterly holiday - what are you looking for for Q1?  Like would just, any winter/snowy model be ok, or do I need to figure out what a MLK day themed model would be? 😜
A: The rules are very loose, as this is not a contest and is meant for you and others to hobby!!!!!! So if you think its a holiday or a special day? By all means paint something and present it under that challenge category, as long as you spent time and effort into making it, I will recognize it. As an example if you wanted to paint something that was for your birthday! i'll count that!

This is not the first set of bots I've painted, but I get to keep these.  They're a lot of fun with interchangeable arms and accessories.
