Reverend Shartan
Is it possible to drop an FDM file below the build plate in Cura for the purposes of removing part of the model ? I would like to remove the floors from a few FDG files, leaving just the walls. I know it can be done with resin printers, but I can't find out if it can be done on FDM machines. I'm using Cura 4.11 if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance Reverend Shartan
Zink
Yes. You need to uncheck "automatically drop models to the build plate" under general in print settings. Then you can move the model up and down through the build plate in Cura to get the level you want. 2

Of course it was a simple thing to do..... Thank you, Zink Reverend Shartan
Zink
Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to figure out. Banged my head on various walls more than once.

I'm still trying to figure out how to fill my Ender build plate with multiple copies of one file and have them properly lined up..... cmorse
If it's something you want consistently repeatable I'd recommend cutting the bottoms off in 3dbuilder instead so that you can save the results as stls. Otherwise it's pretty easy to get something a bit taller or a bit shorter the next time you want to print them. Doing it in the slicer is a great way to do it as a one off though to avoid the clutter of extra files.

Good idea....I'll add that to my list of things to do 🙂 Reverend Shartan
