Citadel Undead Chariot

Another Ebay find! The base is foamboard, sand, and Vallejo Mud & Grass paint with some Citadel Stirland Battlemire. The model was a ton of fun to paint.

Unfortunately it isn't the complete set; there should be four more figures. Still, I'm not annoyed because I didn't find that out till almost a year after I bought it LOL! It was a lucky find on Ebay and well worth the money for such a classic Citadel set.

I think the chariot with horses and crew are complete. Rare find. Getting the remaining figs would be quest in itself. Most sellers try to get ridiculous prices for them

I've seen one of these going for $200! Mine was under $100 but I had the money at the time and simply couldn't pass up the chance to get it.

Thanks so much, basing is something I can struggle with. I knew I had to actually base the whole model and not just the horses, so I just sat down and went for it.

The Skullchucker was a separate model but it and the chariot were released under the "Machineries of Destruction" line.

That kept bugging me, so I ended up doing some digging.  It's not exactly unknown for me to misremember, but not this time:

 

 

Man, that takes me back.  I had to research the names of the skeletons, too: Longhorn (beastman head), Morbius (lich), Screamer (spear) and then (I think) Reaper and Hellblade.  Those guys had some character.

And don't forget Charioteer! Yeah, it's amazing how much character the Citadel sculptors got into small pieces of white metal. You can almost see their personalities.

Thanks! I'm actually not a huge fan of painting bone but it went well. I used Reaper Aged Bone as a basecoat, then Vallejo Bonewhite with added Ivory for the highlights. It's shaded with Citadel Seraphim Sepia.

Really great color planning here...even colors that might stand out in stark contrast (like the driver's hair) blend in cohesively because of the sepia tones to the shade. And, of course, the pops of blue throughout work on the same level. 

 

The classics are always cool to see.
