If you’ve never done that, what was the longest voyage on salt water you have ever made? I would consider it, but no real motivation to go on one. I probably spent more time swimming in salt water than sailing on it.

I mean, it sounds cool, especially some of the smaller themed tours, but my body wouldn’t like it. The longest I’ve been on water was the ferry trip between Port Angeles, WA and Victoria, BC (and vice versa). It was maybe an hour. The trip north was okay, but the trip back was not. I did not feel well that morning, so the motion sickness kicked in bad.

When I was 9 I went to New York state with my grandmother to see my aunt & uncle, we did the St of Lby/Ellis Is tour. I've also been a boat in the Pacific Ocean, just outside of Newport, OR for a small bit of time. 6 minutes ago, TGP said: DEC 2 Christmas decor: …Are you tired of seeing it yet? About how long have the stores near you been festooned with forests of little trees? Do you have a tree up of your own? Tbh, I've blocked out holiday stuff quite well this year. Since my town likes to charge arms & legs for a license to sell, not many seller except for a local grocery store & Home Dewpah, this year so far. The grocery store trees are like 50 & 60 bucks (nice they put a giant sign out). Yah those will be in the landfill soon. We haven't had a tree up in probably over 10 years here.

We're going to decorate our tree and put up some lights this weekend. Then maybe we'll bike around and see how other people have decorated.

I don't go to a lot of stores. I have no place to put a tree. I have put out my christmas dragons. 9

As Christmas-y as I get is to do baking, and that’s on the schedule to be started this weekend. I keep saying that I’m setting up some sort of snow village with my Reaper Christmas figures, but I haven’t managed to paint one yet, so this may not be the year either. Last year’s baking was a bit thin on account of the plague. Ordinarily my son and daughter-in-law would join us for a mega-baking weekend, but I had to it solo, so there were only six or seven kinds: 11

The city's downtown light display is on, but most of the stores I go to on a regular basis have little to no holiday stuff up. And I haven't heard any Christmas music yet either. The little market I go to for eggs and coffee has a bunch of beer advent calendars by the entrance but that's about it. We're not doing any decorating this year since we're not going to be around for the holidays. Though to be fair, my decorations are never that much to begin with. A wreath on the door and we have a permanently decorated tree in the basement wrapped in a sheet I just carry up and unwrap. Takes about five minutes to decorate.

It's a season focused on a message of peace, love, and giving. People heap scorn upon christmas, when it's really the corporate takeover of all things that's to blame. I usually wait another week or two to cut a tree, I like them to last into the new year in the house. Then I put it on the patio so birds can enjoy it (I unplug the lights!). Used to be a big hit with Bart. In late Jan or Feb I'll limb it and put it in the woods to return to the earth.

To the many Armed forces responses here, sad that you don't understand what a voyage is: It isn't the length of a deployment, it is a distance between ports. Probably my longest was Osaka in Japan to Kuwait via Cape Horn, about 7 weeks of steady slow steaming. Of all the types of decorations, Christmas is the one I like best, as long as they're not up too soon. Mid-November is quite acceptable. Right after Halloween is pushing it. And not more than a week after New Year's Day (coinciding with the "Twelfth Night of Christmas", and my late father's birthday). It's really the outdoor lights, under the snow and dark nights, that are enjoyed the most. It's a like a little bit of warmth in your heart/soul while your hands and feet are freezing. That being said, I have never decorated my own apartment for any holiday.

Everywhere around here seems to have left it a little later before putting up the decorations, so I haven't got tired of them yet. I do have a tiny artificial tree to put up, need to discover if we're doing Christmas this year first though.
