Christmas decor: …Are you tired of seeing it yet? About how long have the stores near you been festooned with forests of little trees? Do you have a tree up of your own?

Not quite yet, but only because I haven't seen very much of it yet.

I have no idea, I have made a conscious effort to avoid stores.

No, I do not

I've always deliberately avoided the stores around this time of year, I hate the music, and how it's the same eight songs....

I don't get the tree thing, in all honesty, doubly so the spend two days getting it up for a few weeks, and then having it take up space in a box for 11 months...

I haven't noticed any Christmas decorations. I am sure there are some, but I don't get out to the stores much. Back in Texas I would Imagine the Marble Falls & the other towns are festooned with Christmas decorations. Since they bring back memories of being a boy looking forward to Christmas, I don't mind them at all.

Son Mafu (aka Matt) put up the tree last Friday evening to surprise Daughter-in-law Melissa when she got home from work. The decorations are Nightmare Before Christmas themed...I rather like that.

I enjoy the lights and everything when driving around.  I've barely been in a store (besides the FLGS)  so other than noting that the grocery stores has lots of candy, and the normal "grab a drink on the way to the checkout" cooler is now full of egg nog and wine and the like, I haven't seen much.
I put the outside lights up on Sunday and pulled down all the totes and boxes for my wife (my shoulder is recovering....).  She pretty much does the inside of the house while I do the outside. All of our trees are artificial as I have a pretty bad allergic reaction to real ones.

The only time I've really noticed the music so far was Sunday night when we popped out to a new restaurant for some supper.  They were playing some terrible renditions of some classics.

Barely begun to see it. One house in the neighborhood has had lights up for a couple weeks, and I just saw the first real display at the dentist's lobby. That's been about it. I like Christmas season, I'm already singing 12 Days of Christmas.

No, we don't have a tree up, probably won't. We haven't used one for many years. Gifts just get set on top of a piano that hasn't been tuned or played in over a decade.

Haven't been in many stores, not seeing a lot of decorations around town.  Generally avoiding the big retail areas. Mostly in my neighborhood people don't bother.  I have seen a few strings of lights up.  We tested the living room window (didn't take lights down last year) and plugged them into the timer.  Have not tested porch or garage lights. We have the most decorated house on the street.

About to take down the Hallo-falls-giving stuff.  I got a poinsettia last week.  Next week would be a good time to get the tree out.

I haven't seen that much of it yet, so not tired of it.

While I did not see it personally, my brother told me he went into Home Depot before Halloween to pick something up and they already had their trees out.

I have not set it up yet.  Probably this weekend.

Egg nog hits the shelves in Canada for Thanksgiving, about the middle of October, and stays around until mid-January. When filming the X Files in Vancouver, the crew thought this was great, very atmospheric. Christmas village stuff is great, I always manage to find something for the wargaming table. As for the real thing this year, not many of them out and about yet, probably because of the flooding and landslides in BC, where the Christmas tree farms are. I don't do Christmas trees and ornaments. It takes me 5 minutes to put out the crèche and I'm done. I'd love to paint a Reaper nativity someday. My family teases me about being a Scrooge, but he was pretty awesome, he gave the Cratchetts a great party.

Only enough, it hasn't been all that obtrusive in the stores this year. Except for Dollarama, of course, considering that they were stocking up on Christmas stuff back in August. No trees for me, though.

My God No, All cruise liners are just so many disasters waiting to happen, believe me.

To the many Armed forces responses here, sad that you don't understand what a voyage is: It isn't the length of a deployment, it is a distance between ports. Probably my longest was Osaka in Japan to Kuwait via Cape Horn, about 7 weeks of steady slow steaming.

OK. I’ll bite, why did your ship go the Looooong way?

(Osaka, Japan to Kuwait is 7800~ nm for the whole voyage, if going via Singapore then past India. Osaka just to Cape Horn alone is 9000+ nm.)

Is going on a cruise something you’d consider doing? If you’ve never done that, what was the longest voyage on salt water you have ever made?

Not something I'll consider, too many people, longest v trip, Melbourne to Devonport

Haven't seen any, possibly because I've blocked them out, is possibly because I've only been to 3 stores since August...

I have seen very little in the way of Christmas decor anywhere. I have no idea if my local stores have little trees in a hundred sizes (in prior years I remember them having every size from miniature Christmas Village on up) because I have been going without or ordering in.  My own tree is artificial, very small, Snoopy® approved, and needs to be placed in some new spot. It hasn’t moved from a year ago.

I did spot a Christmas Dragon on Thursday the 2nd!  His head and one wing are just visible from my front porch. Alas, no picture: I had to look across the street, past a house, and over some shrubbery to spot him.

I found someone else’s picture of the same dragon. The wise guys of the internet have apparently named him Gary. No idea why.

In that case, it would be the deployment right after 9/11. We were at sea for 92 days from leaving home port to pulling in to another port.

Love all of it. Thankfully I don't have to spend any time indoors in a retail setting listening to the same 10 songs over and over. As for the stores, not much that I've seen, but I also don't do much shopping in those big box stores anyway.

No tree, but thinking about a wreath. We'll be out of town for the holiday itself.

Yes, been to the Bahamas, to Honduras/Belize/Mexico, and to Alaska/BC Canada via cruise.  Honestly, it is really the best and maybe only way to see the inner straights of AK.  Cruises are a good way of sampling areas, but I get frustrated by the lack of actual immersion in the cultures/places you visit.  I really want to go back to Belize and stay a few weeks sometime.

Not tired of seeing it yet, but then I don't go shopping in physical stores much anymore, except for groceries and bird/deer food.

We went and got the Christmas tree and put up all of our Advent and Christmas decorations last weekend to be ready for Advent.
