Me, rescue the kid. Wife, take a photo. She's obsessed with taking pictures of every little thing.

Why can I never sleep in on the days I don't need to get up. Still tired but can't sleep so having breakfast and looking at forums.

Wasn't really feeling excitement for the Olympics this year. But after watching swimming last night and seeing the man from Tunisia win gold in the 400m freestyle from the 8th lane (considered one of the worst lanes) sparked the joy of seeing them. Never personally seen anyone win, let alone win gold, from one of the outermost lanes.

The curious question of how many hobbies I actually have came up. Made a list and it came out to 33. At that amount, that should mean that I could do a different hobby every day every month and not repeat myself.

No wonder I cannot figure out what I would like to do every weekend.

Counting mine would spark a major internal debate over just where to draw the line about what constitutes a hobby... Just the serious ones, the casual ones? Is a hobby something you make time for, or only engage in when it happens to come up? Etc., etc....

I'll get back to you on that in about ten years or so, lol.

Same here.  I’d also end up quibbling over how long I could be away from one with dropping it from the list. (E.g., I haven’t been in a choir of any sort for three or four years, but I probably will be again someday; how does that compare with coin collecting, where I haven’t spent any money on it years, but I at least check my pocket change for the U.S. quarter dollar variants?) Is there a difference between a hobby and an activity? I bicycle, sometimes for the sheer pleasure of movement, and sometimes because I have an errand at the library or coffee shop, so is it a hobby or just transportation? Etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum …

I'm already loving the results of the men's basketball. I'm not a fan of pros in the Olympics.

Clarification: She wasn’t in a crash. Just traffic due to one!

OP:

My daughter took a trip with a friend to see an old friend. Poor thing is coming back tonight and they are needing to get to Seattle-Tacoma to fly home. There was a huge accident and they have missed their first flight so are changed to the next one, which is already delayed until 10pm. If that holds, she will arrive home about 2am. Ouch.

She is a seasoned traveler at just sixteen, so no worries. But I would hate to be in her shoes right now.

So I showed the Dark Depths merfolk to Strawbonnet Saturday.

While I did not get the response that I expected, she was certainly interested in them (and kept playing with them whenever she had the chance).  So now I've got another project.  We took some time and talked through some of the colors.  I reserved the right to make some changes, but she didn't request anything too outlandish.

I also took a sheet of mat board I had taken from Ma Strawhat's things and finally started chopping it up.  The mat board will go into a couple "Super Satchel" style cases I picked up from Michael's a couple years ago, intending to use them for my paints.  The height is great, but the ~14" width/length makes for shifting paint rows.  The mat board will be cut to make spaces (large enough for six paints) to corral the paints and keep them from flopping and sliding all over the place when I pull a couple colors out.  Now I just need to redo the first one I did, as the second one I made actually gives me more space (and lets me get six more paints in the case)!

Yeah, I-5 is a nasty place for traffic, even without the complications of car accidents. When we had that train derailment by Nisqually a few years ago it literally backed up traffic for nearly 24 hours. At least she didn’t have to get into Seattle proper. Getting into SeaTac is much easier.
