Last day of the vacation.

Tomorrow I will return to base for the day due to an appointment, will be "working from home" for the remainder of the week.

In an hour we'll have to attend a birthday of a nephew, we've had a row of B-days now the last few weeks and it's getting a bit tiresome.

I mean, love the family but we've seen everybody over and over again lately and we're running out of conversation topics ( well, I DO have some topics but those would be best be avoided :blues:)

So we're planning on a hit and run B-day. Get in, give gift, munch down B-day cake and get out as fast as we can without being impolite...

Oops, did I forget to walk Brutus? I thought you would...poor dog! We NEED to go home now!!

In the meanwhile Brutus who really can't hold it anymore :

Back in the long ago days when all GW mail order came from the UK.

I ordered a bunch of Epic minis.  They arrived, I was happy.

Two days later, another box arrived for the exact same order, duplicated. I contacted GW to tell them they accidentally duplicated my order. They said "Thank you for letting us know, you can keep the extra order." I was really happy.

Two weeks after that, ANOTHER box arrived, with the order duplicated again. Inside was a note that said something like "Sorry about the missing items from your previous order, please accept this order as our apology."

I haven't had that experience, but I way back when they still had a bits service I received a brand new kit on 2 separate occasions to fix a mistake when they could have just sent me the bit. One kit was missing a piece, and the other kit had a miscast, both were metal pieces.

I haven't purchased stuff from them in a good while now, so I don't know if their customer service is still as good.

Hello!

It's the Green Eyed Monster here.

Had a hard drive failure shortly after we moved and gmail is convinced I'm trying to hack into my own account because I can't access the backup/verification email on my wifes computer, because it is lost in the pile of boxes still to be opened and sorted. 🤬  I can't remember the meshugah password, for there and for other places, such as here.  I guess that's what I get for actually creating "secure" passwords.

As a last act of desperation I've created another gmail account so I can access places like this.

So how is everybody?

Have you been "playing nice"?

What's new?

Who's going to be able to attend Reaper Con?

As you may have guessed by now, we are still sorting out how our new home will be set up.

I'm suffering both near terminal exhaustion and severe problems with my arthritis, but life goes on, even if at a slower than desired pace.

We're downwind from all the fires in California so our air quality is currently worse than Los Angeles. 😣

Welcome back!

Sorry to hear about the computer troubles, I hope you're able to it all worked out quickly.

I'm doing fairly well, thank you for asking.

I will be attending Reapercon, and I'm also teaching a class for the first time.

Unnecessary if you build the city this way (inspired by the way Luke Towan on Youtube builds most of his scale dioramas though I don't know if he's ever made a stacking diorama as I am going to attempt to describe):

  1. Imagine your diorama/city is built in 2 ft x 2 ft sections (or whatever dimension you want).
  2. First build a wood frame for each section, and glue some XPS foam cut to fit the inside of the frame, so you've got your base to build whatever on.
  3. Build your city terrain for each section.
  4. Now build a layer of identical frames to be the sewer layer so you can place the upper city layer directly on top of it. This layer would have to be recessed a depth (3 or 4 inches) so that the top layer won't smoosh anything in the sewer layer (which is most likely tunnels anyways, so you can still use foam to build up support bulk). You can use shallow pegs on the sewer level frame and holes in the upper city layer's wooden frame to ensure proper alignment and avoid slippage.
  5. When your players go down into the sewer level from one section, you just lift off that upper city section and voila, they are directly below where they were in the actual city.

Yes, I've put much thought into this. Yes, I plan to do this some day. Yes, it's going to eat up a lot of space. And yes, I will probably be single for the rest of my days. But it'll be cool.

Stop giving me ideas that I want to steal! ::D:

Good grief! :wow:

Please let me assure you that we do eat normal, healthy food over here, too.

I agree with @haldir, though, I don't think I've ever seen Fruit Loops with marshmallows before.

3rd guy wanted some time off...ummmm he's barely been here for like 2 weeks..yah.

Well we got in 10 hrs last night. Gotta love starting the week off with 2 hrs of OT.

Update on the table(s):

Apparently, I should have opened a couple of the boxes before contacting customer service, because after opening two boxes, I discovered a different issue:

I don't have 3 tables in 3 boxes. I have most of two tables spread over 3 boxes.

Even though the labels on the outsides of the (identical) boxes all state that they contain "AIK so 1p 1dw din tab 081mc_A", it looks like the pieces were all picked separately and shipped in multiple boxes. So my assumption, based on the label, that each box contained a single table is understandable.

Unfortunately, it looks like I was supposed to have a 4th and possibly even a 5th box, since I have nearly all the pieces for one table, and only a handful of pieces for table #2. <_< So, rather than returning an extra item, I apparently have the complete opposite problem of missing parts.

Well, at least customer service won't be confused about dealing with this issue.

Huzzah!

Wait until I tell you my ideas for a foggy graveyard/woods/whatever. 😉 Sure, some companies have put out small fog machines that use water, but then everything gets wet when the mist condenses on it. But not with my idea (which, granted, is drastically more complicated/work intensive for a terrain/RPG piece, but it's cool).
